The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro , announced today that it decided to give "humanitarian asylum" to Edward Snowden to "protect him from persecution" unleashed against him by the United States.
"I decided to give the young American humanitarian asylum to Edward Snowden in the homeland of (Simon) Bolivar and (Hugo) Chavez can come to life," Maduro said in a speech on the day commemorating the 202 anniversary of the independence of Venezuela.
Maduro said it has decided to "give this figure of international humanitarian law to protect this young Snowden of persecution unleashed the most powerful empire the world against a young man who has done is tell the truth."
"Who violates international law?, Ask today, who violates international law, a young man who has decided on a rebellious attitude that the truths of the U.S. espionage against the world or as the U.S. government or power as the power of elites imperialist spy world? " Maduro said.
