Austria sends Woman with Beard, Conchita Wurst, a Transvestite to Contest

 Austria has chosen a woman with beard Conchita Wurst to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014.  Conchita Wurst is the alter ego of the 24-year-old Tom Neuwirth a transvestite who is quite popular in Austria.

Neuwirth, who previously was part of the boyband Jetzt Anders, created "the woman with the beard" in 2011 for the program Die Grobe Chance. The announcement about the participation of Wurst came through Austrian TV guide TV Media. Two years ago Wust finished second in the national final with the song That's What I Am.

The Eurovision Song Contest will be held next year from 6 to 10 May in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
