The Oscar selfie, thanks to social media, went around the world March 2, 2014. The "selfie" of DeGeneres, along with actors like Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts,  Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep is now valued at almost a billion dollars. 

CEO of the company gala, Maurice Levy, pioneering the advertising campaign for Samsung, said during the 51st edition of MIPTV audiovisual trade show, held in Cannes, the derived value of the photo comes from its impact and its global reach.

"It's something we did for Samsung. It's us. Those two 'selfies' so famous (referring also to the U.S. President Barack Obama and baseball player David took" Big Papi "Ortiz) were taken by our teams "Levy said.
