FIFA says Nigeria will play in the Confederations Cup

Nigeria will play in the Confederations Cup
Nigeria national football team went on strike on Thursday and did not travel to Brazil to compete in the Confederations Cup due to unresolved problems. The confederation cup will take place this Saturday and FIFA has confirmed that Nigeria will participate in the tournament without problems ending Nigeria's confed cup scandal.


"I talked to coach (of Nigeria) and they will be on the plane on Saturday to play the Confederations Cup. The problem is solved," said FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, who wanted to reassure the other participants.

According to news reports, Nigeria players refused to board the flight on Thursday to protest the decision of the Nigerian federation halving promised economic rewards for participation in the Confederations Cup.

Nigeria, the current African champion currently leads the World Cup qualifiers. Nigeria is paired in Group B alongside Spain, Uruguay and Tahiti in the Confederations cup.
