JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai officially recognized as the world’s tallest hotel.

JW Marriot Marquis de-crowned Dubai's Rotana Rose Rayhaa as the tallest hotel

The Guinness World Records association acknowledged Monday the recently opened 355 meter JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai as the world's tallest hotel.

The five-star hotel's general manager Rupprecht Queitsch received the official Guinness World Record certificate, which he proudly presented to reporters.

Located in the Business Bay in central Dubai near the city's main artery Sheikh Zayed Road, the twin-tower JW Marriot Marquis de-crowned Dubai's 333-meter high Rotana Rose Rayhaan, which is just a 10-minute drive away from the Marquis and which has held the world record as the tallest hotel since its opening in January 2010.

At a height of 355 metres from ground level to the top of its mast, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is only 26 metres short of the Empire State Building in New York.

The 77-floor twin tower hotel opened its first tower to guests in November, with six of its final nine restaurants now operating. The hotel will have all nine restaurants, five bars and lounges, as well as the Saray Spa and Health Club open in time for the grand opening scheduled to take place in February, 2013.
