UK Calls for Ban and Deportation of Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio

Helen Ukpabio, a Nigerian woman who calls herself a “Lady Apostle,” is the founder of the controversial Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries in Nigeria. It has 150 branches in Africa and Europe.

The 45 year old preacher who claims to deliver people from witchcraft is a danger to children and should be deported from England, activists say.

UK campaigners and protesters have called for home secretary Theresa May to take measures to prevent a Nigerian “witch hunter” from coming to the UK again.

Helen Ukpabio who has been the focus of campaigns by human rights groups and was the subject of Channel 4’s Saving Africa’s Witch Children documentary is believed to be in the capital where she addressed three gatherings last week.

Helen Ukpabio is previously quoted as saying “If a child under the age of two screams in the night, cries and is always feverish with deteriorating health he or she is a servant of Satan.”

Gary Foxcroft, executive director of the Witchcraft and Human Rights Information Network said “There have been numerous cases of children in the U.K. being tortured and sometimes killed due to the beliefs that Helen Ukpabio espouses,”

He called on Home Affairs Minister Theresa May to deport Ukpabio immediately, adding: “Whilst the government has moved swiftly to block entry to the U.K. for Islamic preachers whose presence is harmful to the public good, there have been no cases of Christian pastors facing such measures.”
