LAST MATCH STANDING

On Saturday October 13 2012 in Calabar, Nigerians are braced for the most important match of the year. The streets are ready, the drums even louder and celebrations paused ahead of the soccer game. The Super Eagles of Nigeria will have to overcome a highly motivated Liberian side as each player in the Lone Star stands to get $10,000 if they win the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday in Calabar.
DESPITE the familiar assurances by players and coaching staff of the Super Eagles that the visiting Lone Stars of Liberia would be used for pepper soup and dinner today in Calabar; some skepticism arise as a result of failure to qualify at this same stage for the last African Cup of Nations. This is why today's match is billed ''Last Match Standing'' between qualifier and failure.
