Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Death Trap contract goes to Julius Berger and RCC

Lagos Ibadan expressway

The Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen, while announcing the termination of the contract with Bi-Courtney on Monday in Abuja, said that the job had been handed to Julius Berger Plc and RCC Nigeria Ltd.

Mrs Toyin Olaifa, from Lagos, told journalist that the initiative was commendable to alleviate sufferings of road users.
``I live at Ibafor and this road is a death trap for those who  ply it.

``My husband works in Ibadan and everyday he goes to work, I have to keep praying and calling him on phone because of the risk of using this road,” Olaifa said.

Julius Berger should have been given the entire road due to its track records on roads construction. The portion given to Julius Berger is too small but we are happy as long as the two companies can ensure the speedy completion of the most important road in Nigeria's history.
