Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria stands still as the former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, were conferred with chieftaincy titles by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo OkuKenu IV
Tinubu was conferred with the title of Aare-ago of Egbaland, meaning Field Marshal of Egbaland,
while his wife was installed Erelu Aare-ago.
The conferment of the chieftaincy titles was part of the activities marking the seventh coronation anniversary of Alake of Egbaland. Eminent Nigerians at the event included the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate in the April 2011 general election, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and former ACN presidential candidate at the same election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Also present at the occasion were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, ACN National Chairman, Bisi Akande; Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, House of Representatives Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila; as well as former governors of Lagos and Ogun States, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Aremo Segun Osoba.
