Nigeria's Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala's mother freed by kidnappers


The mother of Nigeria's Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been released five days after she was kidnapped.
Nigeria's police in southeast Delta State on Friday said Kamene Okonjo, mother of the West African country's Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been released.

The 82-year old mother was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Sunday in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

State police spokesperson Charles Muka said that Kamene Okonjo was released by her abductors in the early hours of Friday.

He declined to disclose where she was released, noting that details of how the woman regained her freedom would be released later.
