Lagos-Ibadan expressway rehabilitation to be completed by month end

Lagos-Ibadan expressway to be completed this month end

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Oluwatoyin Obikoya, says work on section one of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway will be completed this month. Emergency repair of section one of the highway which spans Lagos to Shagamu Interchange was awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

Section two of the project which begins from the Shagamu Interchange to Ibadan was awarded to RCC, following the termination of the concession agreement between the Federal Government and Bi-Courtney Consortium.

Work on section one is half completed, and 90 percent already done on section 2.

Obikoya who is the Engineer Representative on section one, noted that Julius Berger resumed work on site on January 7. “Right now, the contractor is milling some corrugated sections of the road, laying asphalt and upgrading the road shoulders. By the end of this month, all failed sections would have been repaired. The emergency repair works would be completed before the end of the month,” he said.
