The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and related Offences Commission ( ICPC) were established to fight corruption in Nigeria. The EFCC was established by former president Olusegun Obasanjo. The mission statement was to 'identify illegally acquired wealth and confiscate it.'
The commission probes people in government, police and other agencies. The EFCC probe list exclude Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Tinubu, Tony Anenih, Danjuma and co
The EFCC today is more corrupt than when it started under Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. It is yet to win a single case leveled against some notorious corrupt leaders.
It has been rendered useless by the National Assembly and it is now a political bulldog to rival individuals and parties. The commission appears more corrupt than the police.
Should the government probe EFCC itself? Who verifies how much is really recovered as reported in the news? Where is the money recovered so far?
