Nigeria crowned African champions

Nigeria beats Burkina Faso, 1-0, to win the African nations cup. Nigeria scored late in the first half to trounce Burkina Faso, 1-0, in the 2013 African Nations cup final on Sunday in Soccer City, South Africa, to win the competition after a 19-year wait.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria who were missing star player Emenike in the tournament because of injuries, opened the scoring in the 40th minute when Sunday Mba volleyed home.

Nigerian coach, Steven Keshi becomes the second person to win the African nations cup both as a player(1994) and a coach (2013).


Nigeria will represent Africa as champions in the Brazil Confederation cup in June.


Emmanuel Emenike received the golden ball of the championship while Burkina Faso's Petriopia was man of the championship.
