Child pornography goes viral on Facebook and Twitter

A Child pornography film in which a young girl was raped by a grown man, was 16,000 times shared on Twitter and more than 4,000 'liked' on Facebook. Thousands of users saw the shocking video and images as it went viral and appeared on their timeline.

The clip was later detected by Facebook and taken offline. "We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to uploading child pornography on Facebook. We are pleased that the material by users were reported so that we could quickly intervene," says a spokesman for Facebook. Twitter had more difficulty and noticed the shocking content only twelve hours after the appearance of the first messages and pictures that were deleted.
