Queensland Supreme Court judge David Boddice sentenced the 41-year-old to 9 years in jail Tuesday. The woman from Thailand who lives in Australia encouraged her 11-year-old daughter to become a business partner and encouraged her to have sex with service clients for more than seven years.
The woman set up a massage business out of her home in Runcorn, which soon expanded into prostitution center. The child abuse first started when the child visited her mother in Australia while on a holiday in 2004. The 41-year-old woman is the first person in Australia to be convicted of child trafficking.
She also pleaded guilty to other offences, including child prostitution, indecent treatment of a child and having a sexual relationship with a child.
Prosecutor Todd Fuller SC told the court the woman brought the child permanently to Austalia when she turned 11, making her a partner in the $100, 000 a year business.
The woman told the daughter to exploit her clients with sex who paid her handsomely for services rendered.
"She regarded her daughter's virginity as a commodity that she could sell," Mr Fuller said.
The girl filed a complaint in 2011 to a family friend, who reported it to police.
