According to the military spokesman Sagir Musa, "heavily armed terrorists from the Boko Haram" launched attacks at around 5:00 a.m. local against army barracks, police stations and prisons.
"In these attacks, 55 people were killed, including two soldiers, jailers, policemen and civilians," said the spokesman in Maiduguri, a stronghold of the Islamist group Boko Haram located 67 km Bama.
"Some armed men attacked the barracks, but were repulsed. Ten of them were killed and two were arrested. But others entered the prison, freeing 105 inmates, killing the guards, except for those who managed to hide," he said.
