British government are pushing to have all illegal immigrants return home of face arrest and deportation.The Interior Ministry said it had contacted via SMS, between September 2012 and June 2013, 39,100 suspected illegal immigrants. The message was as follows: "Message from the Ministry of Interior Our records show that you may not be entitled to remain in the UK, please contact us at 08443754636..."
The Secretary of State for Immigration, Mark Harper, also defended the policy, saying he had "no problem telling people who are there illegally they should no longer be." He also said that another controversial campaign, called "Go Home" and tested in London in July, could be extended to the whole territory. The campaign used two trucks circulating in the streets hit the message "In the UK illegally? Go home or you run the risk of being arrested."
