Olusegun Obasanjo to defect to APC?

I came across Forbes thought of the day by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and it reads “ If you would stand well with a great mind, leave him with a favorable impression of yourself; if with a little mind, leave him with a favorable opinion of himself. ”

If the statement is right, then it is foreseeable following the crisis at PDP, the massive exodus to APC, the rise of APC movement and the face-off between friends (Obasanjo vs Jonathan). Will Chief Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo defect to PDP? A party he stood for if not one of the pioneers, malneuvered, and as latest report suggest ' he's neglecting calls from PDP Chieftains'

The former president Olusegun Obasanjo said earlier this week, he was frustrated about the ruling of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His 18 page letter to President Goodluck Jonathan has fueled speculation that he may soon decamp to the rapidly ever rising All Peoples Party (APC). As APC sets up to dismantle the ruling democratic and to install democracy back in Nigeria, the question remains of the former president and elder statesman Chief Aremu Olusegun Obasanjo.

Earlier this week his former vice president and party colleague Atiku Abubakar elected to move across the northern borders to join APC. The strong advocate of a two-party system, Mr. Abubakar praised the APC pioneers for their commitment in what he called “a long expected great party,” adding that it (APC) had true internal democracy that would satisfy the yearning and aspirations of its members.

“As strong as the Africa National Congress (ANC) is, its internal democracy is unparallel. I have seen where there is healthy competition without bitterness.

“If the South Africans faced Apartheid, Nigeria is facing colonialism, the struggle has been long for the enthronement of democracy,” Mr. Abubakar said.

Earlier, Mr. Akande explained that the APC leaders decided to visit Mr. Abubakar because the country was being rubbished and that the party felt it was necessary to ask like-minds to rise up and save it.

He added, “All of us that met here were comrades in politics from time to time, we only met today to cement that comradeship, and all is well cemented and we are moving together to work for this country.”

Also speaking on behalf of the APC movement, General Buhari said, “we have been visiting others like the G7 governors, we have all visited former heads of state, and we intend to visit former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo any time he is available to ask for understanding and brief him on why we formed the APC.

Will Olusegun Obasanjo decamp to APC? What will be the ripple effect of such defect?

  2. Obj is very egoistic and will never go to submit to Tinubu and Buhari. However, he may if not already working against the president. He is a drowning man politically looking for relevance with whichever means necessary. Although nothing is impossible in politics.
