Flood Warning - Nigerian States to Watch

Flood Warning - Nigerian States to Watch

The flood warning continues for the following states in Nigeria: Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Niger, Benue, Anambra, Lagos, Sokoto, Kebbi and Oyo.

Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency [NIHSA] on Wednesday warned that these 10 States in Nigeria are likely going to be submerged by flood during the 2015 rainy season.

"Apart from rain, these floods could be attributed to low preparedness, poor drainage systems and blockage of the underground drainage by refuse which prevents free flow of runoff water and poor development plan or non-compliance by those affected."Director General of NIHSA, Moses Beckley said.

"If people do not take heed to these predictions, they will be greatly affected when the flood comes. There is the need to embark on prevention and mitigation measures that would ensure free flow of runoff into the drainages as well as good operation and maintenance of hydraulic structures such as dams and reservoirs."

"These measures will enable us to live with flood, appropriate its positive elements and mitigate the adverse effects," he said.

Barcelona beat Juventus to win UEFA Champions League

Barcelona treble fifth Champions League title 3-1 victory Italian Juventus in Berlin

Barcelona beat resilient Juventus 3-1 thanks to goals from Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Neymar who wrapped up the treble winning season for the "Blaugrana" , following the UEFA Champions League final at the Berlin Olympia stadium.

Both clubs played their eighth European Cup final and both clubs had the chance to complete the season with a treble. Yet, there can be only one winner. In the end "Barca" sealed the deal with two-second half goals after Juventus' Alvaro Morata cancelled out Ivan Raktici' s opener from the first half.

With the victory in the final, Luis Enrique completed the treble in his first season in charge. Barcelona is the first club that were able to earn three titles in one season twice, after 2009.
"Such a result is not always fair but we played a good game. We can't blame us," Juventus Turin goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffion said.

"We are very happy. I have got a unique group of players. I never thought we would win the treble but one always tries to do their best job," Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said.

Why Blatter Quit FIFA

Why Blatter Quit FIFA

Joseph Sepp Blatter nicknamed the 'Teflon Man' quits in less than a week after winning fifth term as FIFA President.  He has been at FIFA for 17 years. Here is the backstory of how FIFA's notorious chief lost his job. Statements like ''Blatter resigns'' was always going to be moistened with rumors and here maybe one of football's hidden conspiracy.

Sepp Blatter says: "I have thoroughly considered my presidency and thought about my presidency and the last 40 years in my life.

"These years were closely related to Fifa and this wonderful sport of football, I appreciate and love Fifa more than anything else and only want to do the best for football and Fifa and our institution.

"I decided to stand again to be elected because I convinced it was the best option for football. The challenges that Fifa are facing have not come to an end."

This comes in less than a week after winning re-election as president of FIFA for a fifth term on Friday in an election overshadowed by allegations of rampant corruption in world soccer.

Neither Blatter nor Jordanian opponent Prince Ali bin Al Hussein received the necessary two thirds of votes in the first round, with Blatter securing 133 votes against 73 for Prince Ali.

Stunningly is the simultaneous statement from Swiss Atorney General that many believes was the deal that if Blatter resigns, the swiss government won't prosecute him.

"The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) has taken note of the announced resignation of Joseph S. Blatter as President of the Fifa.''

"The OAG has opened criminal proceedings against persons unknown on suspicion of criminal mismanagement and of money laundering. Therefore, Joseph S. Blatter is not under investigation by the OAG. His announced resignation will have no influence on the ongoing criminal proceedings." reads the statement.

So why has Sepp Blatter quit now? The next congress of Fifa is not until May 13 in Mexico.
