Dbanj beat PSaquare, Fatoumata Diawara, Spoek Mathambo, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie, Camp Mulla and  Mariam to walk away with the MTV Best African Act.

D’banj recently lost out of the MTV Europe Music Award ‘Best Worldwide Act’ category to Ahmed Soultan.Hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum, the 19th annual MTV Europe Music Awards will broadcast live from Frankfurt’s historic Festhalle on Sunday 11 November
