Mandela hospitalized again for an infection

Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela was again hospitalized for lung infection outbreak. "Mandela - said in a statement released this afternoon - responds positively to the treatment." Said a statement released this afternoon. The Nobel Peace Prize, 94 year old, has had a relapse of the lung  infection which he suffered a few months ago, reports the presidency of South Africa.

 Already a few days ago, the leader was back in the hospital for a series of checks. "The doctors are working on him, granting him the best care and the best possible treatment," said a statement today.  President Jacob Zuma has expressed the hope of a speedy recovery of Mandela, a national hero and icon of the struggle against apartheid: "We ask the people South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba (Mandela's clan name, editor's note) and his family. 

We have complete confidence in the team medical and know that it will do everything possible for him to find a good health, " said the head of state in South Africa. 

The Presidency, which does not specify in which hospital Mandela was admitted to, has launched an appeal to the whole world "to respect the privacy" of the Nobel Prize for Peace, "so that doctors can do a better job. " Nelson Mandela is "conscious" and doctors are seeing him"on an ongoing basis." 

At the beginning of March Mandela was hospitalized for 24 hours. On that occasion, the President of South Africa had explained that it was just a routine examination. His last long hospital stay, 18 days, dates back to December 2012 and it was always caused by a lung infection.
