Nigeria's aviation minister's conclusion that the Lagos air crash was an 'inevitable acts of God' has caused public outrage with some calling for her resignation.
Stella Oduah was speaking to journalists at the presidential villa on Monday, following the Lagos Aircrash that led to 16 deaths. It was the second most deadly air crash in a little over a year after a Dana Air flight crashed into a Lagos apartment block, killing 163 people.
An investigation has yet to reveal the cause.
"We do not pray for accidents but it is inevitable... We do everything to ensure that we do not have accidents, but it is an act of God," she said. "We do not speculate on the cause of accidents."
Nigerian newspapers and Twitter exploded with angry responses. Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, Senators and bloggers have been quoted calling for her resignation.
