2015: The Next President Of Nigeria

2015: The Next President Of Nigeria

The next President of Nigeria in the next general election is beginning to take shape. Nigeria presidential candidates wants to take over leadership of the country in 2015.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso became the latest to declare his ambition to run for the highly coveted position. Kwankwaso, while speaking with newsmen Sunday night in Kano, said he had been studying the problems facing the country over the years and had come up with the possible answers.

He said,.“The situation is so bad that apart from those displaced by the insurgents, many other Nigerians have been hospitalized while others have gone into hiding just to save their lives, while the system continues to give assurance of victory,” the governor lamented.

“So many Nigerians have also been displaced in Chibok, Gwoza and Bama as well as other places in the country. This is not a good thing for Nigeria and we need to rise up and find a lasting solution to the problem, which is not beyond us.

“A situation whereby Nigeria’s leadership is encouraging division is not good for the unity of Nigeria. We should stop abusing the very people we are supposed to protect and give them a sense of hope and dignity,” Kwankwaso noted.

The governor joins the like of President Goodluck Jonathan, Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and Chris Okotie.

Nigeria's Boko Haram group leader dead? Where are the missing girls? The Nigerian military spokesman has said that more than 260 Boko Haram militants have surrendered in north-eastern Nigeria and that the military had killed the man posing as the group's leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Mohammed Bashir is said to have appeared in the group's videos but is thought to be an imposter.

The military said that 135 Boko Haram members surrendered with their weapons in Biu, Borno State, on Tuesday - and that 133 others surrendered elsewhere in north-eastern Nigeria and were currently being interrogated.

General Chris Olukolade of the Nigerian military said that Mohammed Bashir, who was killed in the latest offensive against Boko Haram, was a lookalike.

Bashir "had been acting or posing in videos as the deceased Abubakar Shekau, the eccentric character known as leader of the group", he added.

The military however did not give any dates or locations for when they believe leader Shekau actually died.

BUSTED Cheating Boyfriend caught Girlfriends

Charlie Fisher, 20, from Hatfield in Hertfordshire, was in relationships with all three women at the same time. And, until recently, they were completely unaware of each other's existence.

His cheating came to light when one of his girlfriends, A-level student Becky Connery, aged 17 and who Fisher had been dating since March, saw a message from another woman on his phone.

Doubtful of his claims that she was 'just a friend' and suspicious of his evasive behaviour, Connery found the 20-year-old woman (who wishes to remain anonymous) on Twitter and sent her a message. The pair then discovered they were both in relationships with Fisher. They subsequently located a third woman on Facebook, bar supervisor Lizzie Leeland-Cunningham, 19, who had been dating supermarket worker Fisher since April. The trio decided to confront Fisher at the airport, as he returned from a holiday in Germany. They shouted at him as he came through customs, calling him a 'liar' and a 'cheat'.

Nigerian Pastors Exposed in Sex & Money Laundering Scandals

Nigerian Pastor Sex Scandals, Money Laundering and Lies
September is beginning to shape up as the month where Nigerian pastors are caught with their pants down. The latest sex scandals, money laundering and lies have entangled some of the founders of the biggest churches in Nigeria and Africa.

First it was the big bank theory that later became a reality. The sex scandals involving Pastor Chris and Anita Oyakhilome. A scandal that is eventually leading to the couple's divorce after 23 years of marriage.

Secondly, it was the famous goateed preacher Pastor TB Joshua who initially claimed that only a few people were injured and then suggested that a low-flying aircraft was responsible for the collapse of his megabuilding headquarters.

On Tuesday he had tweeted: "Hard times may test me, they cannot destroy me."

Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency's Ibrahim Farinloye said that much about the incident remained unclear and that the Synagogue "hid so much information from us. At least 17 people were killed reports the NNEM. South African President says 67 of its citizen were killed in the collapse of the church building. A cover up scandal?

Third is the reports that a private jet was seized and two Nigerians were being investigated for trying to smuggle $9.3 million in cash into South Africa. It turns out that the private jet and the money belongs to the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN president, Ayo Oritsejafor via a company he co-owns, Eagle Air. The disgraced Pastor Oritsejafor said he had leased the jet to another company so had no control over the use of the jet.

"On behalf of Pastor Oritsejafor, we can confirm that although he holds an interest in Eagle Air, the aircraft in question is not operated by Pastor Oritsejafor. The aircraft was leased to, and is operated by Green Coast Produce Limited since August 2” a statement from the church read.

Bring Back Our Girls 5 Months Anniversary

I hope Boko Hamram group gets destroyed. May God bring these children back to their parents. However, disagree with critics who believes that Nigeria don't value their women and that if a white female journalist had been kidnapped with these girls there would have been a different response. Being white and even American did not save the journalist that was beheaded by ISIS. The ISIS are still operable,
Bring Back Our Girls 5 Months Anniversary

On the night of April 14, 2014, hundreds of schoolgirls at the Chibok boarding school in northeastern Nigeria awoke to the sound of gunfire. They saw men in camouflage approaching and thought soldiers were coming to save them from a militant attack, according to survivors' accounts.

Instead, more than 270 of the schoolgirls found themselves in the clutches of the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. Their abduction sparked global outrage and a huge campaign calling for their rescue, partly propelled by the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.

This is their five months anniversary since the girls were kidnapped. Here's what has happened since.
Not one student has been rescued

In the first days after the abduction, 57 of the girls managed to escape from their captors. But not one has escaped or been rescued since then.
Even though they were reportedly located months ago

In May, a Nigerian military official claimed he knew where the girls were being held. A month later, U.S. surveillance planes also spotted a group that officials believed to be the girls.

Stephen Davis, an Australian cleric and mediator, said in June that a deal to free the girls had fallen apart three different times in one month. He says that powerful people with "vested interests" are working to sabotage a deal, and he has accused Nigerian politicians of funding Boko Haram. Nigeria's government has defended its approach to the crisis and warned that a rescue effort might risk the girls' lives.
Other countries have made little progress

According to the Associated Press, it took more than two weeks for Nigeria to accept offers of international assistance to find the schoolgirls.

When other countries did start to help, they didn't get very far. The U.S. sent 80 troops in late May to coordinate an aerial search from neighboring Chad. Canada, France, Israel and the U.K. also sent special forces to Nigeria. But six weeks later, the Pentagon press secretary announced that the U.S. mission would be scaled back, saying: "We don't have any better idea today than we did before about where these girls are."

The troops are still in Chad and the U.S. has surveillance and reconnaissance flightslooking for the girls each week. U.S. officials have expressed concern about sharing intelligence on Boko Haram given the Nigerian military's poor human rights record.
Meanwhile, the girls' hometown is still in danger

Residents in Chibok face the unrelenting threat of an attack by militants. In June, aBoko Haram offensive on nearby villages crept within three miles of the town where the girls were kidnapped.

Tragically, at least 11 parents of the kidnapped girls have been killed by militants or died of illness.
And Boko Haram violence rages on

Since April, Boko Haram claims to have taken over at least five towns in northeastern Nigeria, although the military says it has won some of these back. The militant group has also kidnapped at least three more smaller groups of girls as well as dozens ofboys and young men -- some of whom were later rescued.

More than 2,100 people are reported to have been killed by Boko Haram since April 14, according to data from the Council on Foreign Relations. And during a span of 10 days in August, some 10,000 people were displaced by fighting in northeastern Nigeria.
Nigeria’s military has buckled under pressure...

Nigeria's military appears ill-equipped to deal with the challenge. Complaining of a lack of weapons, at least 40 Nigerian soldiers reportedly refused orders to fight Boko Haram in August. And during recent attacks by Boko Haram in border towns, at least 600 Nigerian soldiers reportedly fled to Cameroon. The army claimed that some of the troops were performing a tactical maneuver.
...And been accused of grave human rights abuses

President, Goodluck Jonathan, recently faced severe backlash after a group campaigning for his reelection started using the hashtag #BringBackGoodluck2015, sparking outrage among groups still campaigning for the girls' return.

LGBT rights in Africa: Is Life Imprisonment for Homosexuals Too Much?

LGBT rights in Africa: Gambia's Life Imprisonment for Homosexuals

Is life imprisonment for African homosexuals too much? Why are corrupt leaders not facing this criminal sentence instead of LGBT?

In Nigeria, the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill 2013, signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, imposes prison sentences of up to 14 years on those who are found guilty of being involved in gay organisations. Gays who publicly demonstrate their sexuality can be jailed for 10 years.

In Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni passed an anti-homosexuality bill in February that sees life imprisonment for gay sex and same-sex marriage.

In Cameroon, its penal code states: "Any person who has sexual relations with a person of the same sex shall be punished with a term of imprisonment of five years and a fine of between 20,000 and 200,000 francs [£25-£250]."

The Gambian parliament has now passed a bill which criminalizes homosexuality and punishes gay people with life imprisonment.

According to the new piece of legislation, gay Gambians can be charged with "aggravated homosexuality" if they have a homosexual relationship with someone younger than 18, or if they are affected by HIV and have homosexual relations.

"A person who commits the offence of aggravated homosexuality is liable on conviction to imprisonment [for] life," said one section of the bill, which is yet to be signed into law by President Yahya Jammeh.

South African Oscar Pistorius gets away with murder.

South African Oscar Pistorius gets away with murder

It would have been bogus and surprising if South African Oscar Pistorius had been convicted of premeditated murder.

It's hard to convict a celebrity of murder. If Pistorius wasn't an Olympian, perhaps the judge would have seen the murder of Reeva Steenkamp in a different light? While Oscar Pistorius trial had been highly publicized as an exhibition of 'How to get away with murder? Be an athlete' a life was lost on in a bathroom door in February 2013.

The 41 day exhibition trial comes to an end. There were no jury as the trials was conducted in South Africa, so it has been left to Judge Masipa, with the help of two aides, to render the verdict on her own.

Ms. Steenkamp, Judge Masipa agreed “was killed under very peculiar circumstances,” but “what is not conjecture is that the accused armed himself with a loaded firearm.”

“The state clearly has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder,” she said. “There are not enough facts.”

“In my view, none of this evidence, from the state or defense, proves anything, she said. “Normal relationships are dynamic and unpredictable sometimes.”

Ray Rice & Fiance Got Married after Elevator Knockout

Ray Rice & Fiance Got Married after Elevator Knockout

The punch is shocking enough, but the Rutger's NFL player dragging his fiancee halfway out of the elevator, nudging her limp body with his foot, and leaving her is sick. President Obama has condemned Ray Rice in the strongest terms after shocking video of the former Baltimore Ravens running back striking his then fiancée Janay Palmer emerged on Monday.

'The President is the father of two daughters. And like any American, he believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society,' said the statement which denounced Rice for his violence towards Janay, who is now his wife.

'Hitting a woman is not something a real man does, and that's true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors.

'Stopping domestic violence is something that's bigger than football – and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it.' While most people condemned the incident, the bitter pill is that his fiancee got married to him after the elevator knockout last February. Was she afraid he will kill her rather than pay alimony if she divorces him. Lots of statistics shows that many cases of women being murdered by abusive husbands because they divorced them.
Back in May, the Ravens NFL star Ray Rice staged a press conference with Janay Rice, newlyweds at the time, the point of which was to deliver her absolution to the fans. What has love got to do with this?
“Janay Rice says she deeply regrets the role that she played the night of the incident.” It took the new video for the team to delete that tweet, months later.

Preventing Ebola, Monkey studies shows vaccine works

Preventing Ebola, Monkey studies shows vaccine works
Preventing African Ebola virus with vaccination is a welcome breather.

New monkey studies show that one shot of an experimental Ebola vaccine can trigger fast protection, but the effect waned unless the animals got a booster shot made a different way.

The NIH on Sunday published some of the key animal research behind those injections. One reason the vaccine was deemed promising was that a single dose protected all four vaccinated monkeys when they were exposed to high levels of Ebola virus just five weeks later, researchers reported in the journal Nature Medicine.

Is five weeks fast enough?

That's in line with other vaccines routinely used today, and fortunately it didn't take multiple doses to trigger that much protection, said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whose employees led the work.

The bigger challenge is that the protection wanes over time.

Researchers exposed monkeys to Ebola 10 months after vaccination, and this time only half were protected.

Partial protection is better than none, Fauci said. But the goal is long-lasting protection, so it was time to try booster shots. The vaccine is made with a chimpanzee cold virus, used as a delivery system for pieces of an Ebola gene. The researchers tried simply giving another dose as a booster two months later. That didn't work well enough.

So they tried a different approach called "prime-boost." The first dose, to prime the immune system, was that original chimp virus-based Ebola vaccine. But for the booster two months later, they made vaccine a different way. They encased the same Ebola gene pieces inside a poxvirus that's used to make a vaccine against smallpox. (Neither vaccine type can cause Ebola.)

This time, all four monkeys still were protected 10 months after the initial shot.

With the Ebola crisis rapidly worsening, the World Health Organization said Friday that it would try to speed the use of certain experimental products, including two vaccine candidates. The WHO said that in November, it expects early results from first-stage studies to see if the vaccine appears safe and triggers an immune reaction in people. That would help determine whether to test the shots' effectiveness in health care workers in West Africa.

Small animal and human safety studies cannot guarantee that experimental vaccines really work in an outbreak, Fauci said. That's why he emphasizes public health measures such as isolating the sick, quarantine and, especially for health workers, using personal protection equipment.

"Make sure people do what works," he said.

The booster-shot findings illustrate an added complexity to speeding an experimental vaccine into the field. The initial first phase study results would shed light only on that "priming" vaccine made from the chimp cold virus, Fauci said.

Still, manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has said it plans to begin manufacturing up to 10,000 doses of the initial NIH-developed vaccine.

Canadian researchers created a similar Ebola vaccine that works in monkeys. Manufacturer NewLink Genetics of Ames, Iowa, said first-stage safety testing in healthy volunteers is set to begin in a few weeks.

Top Best Performing Governors In Nigeria

Top Best Performing Governors In Nigeria

Nigeria's Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has named Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the best performing governor in Nigeria.

ICPC on Monday described the governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as the best-performing governor in Nigeria with his pro-people’s policies and transparency in governance.

ICPC team led by the commission board South West Representative, Professor Olu Aina  told the governor, ''you are one of the few individuals we have voluntarily visited, not for interrogation but as the most-performing governor in Nigeria this year.''

“As part of our re-organisation in ICPC, we are giving serious attention to education. After critical examination of various cases before us, we considered education and orientation as most important aspects of our war against corruption and you will recall that you were invited to the commission office before, as a result of value you place on education. We have the privilege to honour you again for your commitment to banish poverty through education.”

Responding, Governor Aregbesola, who described poverty as the brain of corruption, said the most important aspect of war against corruption is education to restore human and societal values, adding that corruption has become a way of life in Nigeria.

He said: “There cannot be a fresh and stimulating opportunity than what I have today, which is the first day I resumed office after election. I commend the new philosophy of ICPC to enlighten, educate and re-orientate all of us to shun corruption. As much as I agree with punishment, education is critical to the war against corruption.”
“The first step to eliminate it, is to educate us against the danger it poses to our society. However, poverty cannot be divorced from corruption. Poverty is a condition of existence, where society does not matter to you, when you are not even conscious of your environment.

“That is why we are struggling to put in place a governing system that will guarantee for the people what Awolowo sought seriously to make a way of life. Starting from our region to the nation, we have succeed in repeating those programmes here, which is the cradle of our party; freedom for all, life more abundant. This is our party’s vision for the people to pursue their legitimate desire and vision.”

Aregbesola said the stance of his government towards the people earned him the victory in the last governorship election, despite intimidation with federal might.

“For those who monitor the just-concluded election; considering the weakness of our own structure and the strength of the major opposition, we stood no chance on our own, but for the unimaginable support of the masses, it was impossible for any harm to come to us. That was the reason we won conveniently. Therefore, we have no excuse not to stand by the people.

“The welfare of the public is their interest and in a democracy you have no choice than to tailor every aspect of government’s direction to meet the desire of the people. That is why when the security operatives, who wore masks, were shooting sporadically, the people were waving brooms that they were for us and nothing could change their mind,” Aregbesola said.

Anita Oyakhilome and Pastor Chris Divorce Gets Nasty

Anita Oyakhilome and Pastor Chris Divorce

It is no longer a rumor, after years of seperation and months of public speculation about the their marriage, Friday reports gathered that Anita Oyakhilome has started the divorce process with Pastor Chris.

While it is still at the beginning stages alot of speculation in the Nigerian rumor blogs points to adultery. The church website has withdrawn the name of Anita Oyakhilome from all ministerial work. Anita has reportedly filed an action at a UK court to end their 20-year-old marriage.
Mrs. Oyakhilome accuses her husband of “adultery” and “unreasonable behaviour”, charges Mr. Chris has denied. The couple has two daughters together.

Pastor Chris is said to have described his wife as a “bitter and angry” woman who is being influenced by bad friends who are out to seek his downfall. He accused his wife of seeking to overpower the authorities of the elders she met when she joined the Christian ministry.

Nigerians angry with President Goodluck Jonathan's Biggest Approval Rating

President Goodluck Jonathan's Biggest Approval Rating
The latest figures of 61% has caused an uproar regarding the way Goodluck Jonathan is performing as president. NOIPolls gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of 61 for the month of August.

More findings according to the polls revealed “an assessment of the President’s performance on key elements of his transformation agenda in the month of August revealed that the President received an average three rating in his performance on Job creation, power, economy, education, health, agriculture & food security,
“Transportation and Foreign Policy & Diplomacy except for Security, which he performed poorly. Still based on his transformation agenda, the month of August saw a push in the President’s performance on Power and Economy to an average rating (3) following a continuous poor rating since February 2014.

“This figure illustrates the highest positive rating recorded in power supply from the inception of the NOIPolls power monitoring polls in January 2013. These are some of the key findings from the Governance Snap Poll conducted in the week of August 25th 2014.

“These results represent the eighth in the 2014 monthly series of governance polls conducted by NOIPolls to gauge the opinions and perceptions of Nigerians regarding the approval rating of the President, the performance of the President on key elements of his transformation agenda, and the state of power supply in the country.

The firm explained respondents to the poll were asked three specific questions on job performance of President Goodluck Jonathan over the past 1 month and that the results revealed that 61 percent of adult Nigerians surveyed approve of the President’s performance where 41 percent approve and 20 percent strongly approve.

“A total of 26 percent of the respondents assessed disapprove of the President’s performance, where 18 percent disagree and 8 percent strongly disagree. Furthermore, 13 percent remained neutral as they neither approve nor disapprove.

On zonal analysis, the NOIPolls said “the South-East and the South-South zones accounted for the largest fraction of respondents who approve of the President’s job performance with 89 percent and 74 percent respectively. The North-Central and North-West zones have the highest proportion of respondents who were neutral with 20 percent and 17 percent.

“Also, the North-East zone and the North-West zone have the largest proportion of respondents who disapprove of the President’s job performance with 41 percent and 38 percent respectively.
“Monthly trend analysis of the President’s approval rating reveals that the President’s approval rating remained almost stable with a slight decline by 1-point to stand at 61 percent in August 2014.
This current result and that obtained in January 2014 both represent the second highest rating since NOIPolls started its governance poll in January 2013. Likewise, the average rating of the President’s job performance after 8 months is at 56.5 percent, this implies that the President performed above his 8- month’s average by 5-points.

This NOIPolls rating currently being at par with the rating obtained in January 2014, represents a 1-point drop from July’s rating which was recorded at 62 percent. But it is inconsistent with the Gallup Scorecard that recorded Presidents from more than half of the 26 sub-Saharan African countries surveyed in 2013 and 2014. That Poll puts President Goodluck Jonathan at 43%.

Pastor cum Sex Therapist ''Nigerian men are always in a rush''

Pastor cum Sex Therapist ''Nigerian men are always in a rush''
Guns, Arrows, Bats and angry birds awaited the Pastor Cum Sex Therapist Funmi Akingbade who said that Nigerian men are always in a rush it comes to sex. She called out the Nigerian man as one that is impatient.
In an interview with City People magazine, pastor Akingbade said Nigerian men see foreplay and other activities before intercourse as a waste of time. She says to have a bliss marital life, great sex must be incorporated and that the woman should not be seen as an object just to 'release' into.

These statement has not been taken lightly by fellow Nigerians who reacted in massive voice calling the accusations wrong facts. Some even says she's been giving advice to the wrong people and should never use that as a template to judge the Nigerian man.

How would you describe the Nigerian man when it comes to sex?
The Nigerian man is always in a rush when it comes to sex. They rush into it and quickly rush out once they "come". Every driver that wants an accident-free trip must drive safely, know his road signs, have good driving skills and be a good observer. This is also true with sex because marital sex is a journey and not to be done in a rush. Those who want to succeed in marriage give their sex life a lot of attention and sex is what makes it different and wonderful. So, for no reason must a spouse "beg" or "plead" for sex from her partner. Rather, good sex should be given mutually at all times" Continue...

Why then do you think that the Nigerian man rush into and out of sex?

Even though a penis is controlled by the nervous system, it still has a mind of its own. Every woman loves foreplay but the African man has not much time for those sweet touching of a woman's body or genital before sex, they see it as a waste of time. If men tend to rush through foreplay, if at all they want to do it, they do it mildly and hurriedly. This is because they are ever ready the moment they have an erection. Delaying intercourse when they have an erection and a willing woman nearby? That sounds idiotic to them because they see it as a waste of their precious time. A true Nigerian woman is not frigid. It is the way and manner a Nigerian man, lets say a black man, gives sex to her that makes a black woman frigid. A Nigerian man goes out from his own point of need and not from the woman's point of need. They rush into the woman's private part and rush out. They see the woman as an object to release into. They don't care whether she has an orgasm. All they are after is about themselves. They fail to realize that she has her sexual Libido which should be touched or aroused before dipping their manhood into her. But we let them know that they should never rush the woman. A man should ask a woman to give him different styles and positions during sex. She should be free to ask for sex whenever she feels the urge. Our men should allow the women to have sex the way they enjoy doing it too. It shouldn't be just the Adam and Eve style where the man commands her to open and raise her legs and all of a sudden he rushes inside immediately. This means she has just been legally raped. Ask a woman what she wants in bed or during sex, she will tell you she wants to be romanced, touched, kissed, she wants to be friendly. She wants to be bounced with her partner first and this will really make her come easily and sweetly. She will never be frigid if the man presses the right buttons in her because sex to a woman is emotion and she can trade sex for affections because he wants sex. The moment she gets affection from her man, she will be able to open up well for her man to come inside her. So a woman you can easily go into her heart is a woman you can easily get into her legs. Before sex, a woman will want the man to start with talk even if the talk is not relevant but she just needs your attention. She will want to be touched all over but not immediately at the main point of her body so that so it does not appear like you are only interested in getting in-between her legs. Give her the attention, get bonded, get connected first because she wants to feel you. So sex to a man is a show of love he derives during sex or after the sex while that of a woman is a show of emotion she gets before sex. So if you don't understand what a woman really needs in sex, she will tighten her legs and lie down like a log or dead body lying in state because she is not feeling the man emotionally" she said

Whatever happened to Nigeria's Bring Back Our Girls Protests?

Bring Back Our Girls Protests

It summed up the country's failed campaign. Ebola outbreak has been a welcomed distraction. Some parents have given up and buried empty coffins of the stolen children. Nigeria has moved on. The World has failed to return back the missing 200 schoolgirls. It's one hundred and forty one days and counting and yet protesters are not giving up.

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, yesterday, explained why her ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ movement will not relent in mounting pressure on the Federal Government to rescue the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in Chibok, Borno State. She vowed that there is no going back in the campaign until the girls are rescued.

Ezekwesili, who led some members of the movement on an advocacy visit to the corporate office of The Sun Publishing Limited in Lagos, said there was no correlation between the group and politics or financial support from within and the international scene for its activities. She said the explanation became necessary because there had been insinuations that some sponsors were motivating the movement. She stated that untill the 219 girls abducted on April 15 were returned safely to their families, she would continue to freely express her support for the cause.
Dr. Ezekwesili explained that the movement was made up of only compassionate Nigerians, who, to the detriment of their comfort, pulled resources together to ensure that the kidnapped girls were rescued and re-united with their family members.
According to her, compassion restrained people in other societies from doing unhealthy things that Nigerians did with recklessness, pointing out that most acts being perpetrated in the country were due to a dearth of compassion.
She said it was regrettable that 141 days after the kidnap of the girls, nothing definite could be said about the safety of the girls, pointing out that the movement would not have emerged if government was sincere in rescuing the girls. She stated that the military’s earlier claim that it had freed the victims, but which was later uncovered to be false, led the movement into demanding accountability from the Federal Government, stressing that she and her twitter followers were disappointed over the false claim.
However, she commended Nigerian soldiers, who took the courage to fight the insurgents, tasking government to deploy more resources in making the force perform better. She also commiserated with the relatives of security personnel that had fallen to the insurgency.
On which rescue strategy to employ, she suggested military or strategic negotiation option in order not to paint a picture of rewarding bad behaviour, adding that both options could be jointly adopted with the aim of saving the girls, even as she acknowledged that the government had the prerogative to choose any option suitable for the situation at hand.
Responding, the Managing Director of The Sun Publishing Limited, Mr. Femi Adesina, assured that the company would reflect on Ezekwesili’s charge but maintained that the company must thread on a neutral part to serve and meet the interests and demands of other Nigerians in fairness.
Adesina said: “We will sit and reflect on what you have raised and also consider what the readers want. We should be neutral but we will not close our eyes. ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ is being seen as an opposition campaign. Media houses are only careful and striving to maintain balance and fairness in their dealings. “For us, this is an advocacy session and we heard the messages you have sent across. We will address the concerns you have raised. You will likely see more action, though it may not be as exactly as you are asking for it. And at the end of it all, by the grace of God, when the girls are back, we will all rejoice. ”

Big Brother Africa burns, 9th season Cancelled

Big Brother Africa burns, 9th season Cancelled

The launch of the new season of Africa's Big Brother has been cancelled by a "devastating" fire at its purpose-built studios in Johannesburg.

The show, due to start on Sunday, September 7, 2014 has been put off while producers "urgently" seek alternative facilities.

No-one was hurt in the fire and its cause will remain unknown until an investigation gets underway.

Contestants from 14 countries were due to take part in the ninth series of the reality show.

It was due to run for 91 days before crowning a winner to succeed last year's winner, Dilish Matthews from Namibia.

This year's victor stands to win $300,000 (£182,000), the same as the prize pot in 2013.

Programme makers Endemol South Africa and M-Net said efforts to find another complex in which to film the show would be difficult at such short notice due to its "highly technical infrastructure" which is not "immediately available".

"Every effort will be made to find a solution as quickly as possible to ensure that Africa's biggest reality show will continue," they added.

The new edition of the show was due to be shown across Africa via satellite television.

Big Brother has been a popular draw since it started in 2003, and has produced winners from Tanzania, Angola, Nigeria, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
