Kenyans, Ethiopians win Lagos Marathon

Kenyans, Ethiopians win Lagos Marathon
Kenyans and Ethiopians prevailed in the Lagos marathon. Kenya’s Abraham Kiptom, emerged winner completing the 42.1 km marathon in 2hrs 21 mins, 20 secs ahead of his fellow countryman, Hosea Kipkembe. Abraham was short of the current world record of 2 hours, 3 minutes.

Also, Debebe Toise of Ethiopia came third behind the Kenyans.

The Lagos marathon began at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos on Saturday at 7.10 a. m., with no fewer than 20,000 marathoners from African and international countries.

The race started at National Stadium in Surulele, went through the Ikorodu road to link Oworonsoki and pass through third mainland bridge linking the Victoria Island and ended at the Eko Atlantic City Island.

Emmanuel Gyan, was the first Nigerian to arrive the finish line, he came in 7th place. Halima Hussein of Ethiopia was the first female to cross the finish line, while Chineme Okpeta emerged the first Nigerian female to cross the finish line.
