Meeting Updates: ASUU votes to end Strike

ASUU Meeting Updates:

Branches of ASUU all over the country met today to discuss the new Federal Government offer and the National Executive Committee of ASUU will at its meeting on Wednesday night suspend the lingering ASUU strike to allow public university students to return to their classes as reports from the various local congresses of the union today has shown.


“It is at the meeting that the various branches will take position and communicate same to the national leadership Monday evening, then an emergency NEC meeting would be convened between Wednesday and Thursday.

“We have not been told of the venue, but we were told to prepare because it would take two days by road from my branch.”Universities that have so far voted for the suspension of the 4 month old strike are Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Uthman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, Federal University of Technology MINNA, and the University of Lagos. Others are, the University of Calabar, Federal University of Technology Akure, and Ekiti State University.

Unfortunately, some universities also voted for the strike to continue. ASUU President said the National Executive committee will make a final decision after all its local branches around the country has voted for and against the proposal.
