Emeli Sande hat trick MOBO awards

Scottish-Zambian born singer Emeli Sande was the big winner at the 17th Music of Black Origin awards, which took place Saturday in Liverpool. The 25-year-old singer, whose hits include the No 1 single Read All About It, won best female, best R&B/soul act and best album.

Nigeria: Dbanj voted Best African Act of the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards

Nigeria's D'banj has been voted as Best African Act of the 2012 EMA. D'banj will vie with the representative from India, Middle East, Latin America, North America and Asia Pacific.  These five regional nominees will then battle for votes for the “Worldwide Act” distinction, and the winner will be named at the show in 19th annual EMA in Frankfurt on Sunday, November 11.
He previously won Best African Act at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, Artist of the Year at both the 2008 and 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards, and Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards.
