"Gifts For Guns" exchange program held in LA

People can turn in a firearm and receive a gift card of 200 U.S. dollars for an assault weapon, 100 U.S. dollars for a handgun, and 50 U.S. dollars for a shotgun. The cards are redeemable at Target or Ralphs.

''Gifts for Guns'' exchange programs have garnered more attention in recent months after a string of mass shootings across the country. In December, the Los Angeles Police Department collected over 2,037 weapons.

"Anybody can go into any patrol station and anonymously donate their gun," said Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida.
“But this gives them the opportunity to do that and receive some money."
