The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria, Pastor E.A Adeboye believes allowing gay couples to marry will wipe out humanity.
Adeboye made the comments during a university religious event on Monday that was held at Obafemi Awolowo University.
The pastor said: “Same-sex marriage is an anathema to the will of God for human beings to be fruitful, replenish and multiply on earth. Anything contrary to that is evil.
“How can a man who marries a fellow man produce a child and how can a woman who marries a fellow woman produce a child?
“If this evil is allowed to stay, there will not be newborns again in the world. As the older generation dies, will there be a new generations to succeed it? Even plants and animals have new generations to succeed them.”
Firstly i write to say how disappointed we were that the good pastor failed to see two obvious factors concerning the fragile and sensitive topic of same sex marriages. The first is that even if he did not have faith to believe what God has done for Christian gays and lesbians ( more of which will be explained shortly) it was felt that as an agent of reconciliation the man of god would have spoken up for those that dont have a voice .
ReplyDeleteNot only did he not advice the Govt against passing laws that are un Christian - imprisonment for gays and lesbians he added fuel to the homophobic persecution and hatred by stating that it would wipe out humanity if it was allowed. What proof did he have of this claim either scientific or scriptural that humanity would be wiped out?, assuming that the whole world had been turned gay which is not the fact even if gay marriages was allowed that is ? He has no proof that humanity would be wiped out , what about IVF treatment etc and also in presenting the Christian thought , who is to say that the current way that women conceive and give birth now God plans to continue with it given that that system is a result of the Fall of Adam and Eve in the first place.?
We had expected him to preach the whole Truth of Christ - which is compassion, and that Gays and lesbians should not be imprisoned for their sexuality. Even if he felt that people were headed the wrong road did not the Word of GOd say to leave those that are so headed well alone? Jesus did not advocate any punishment to be meeted out by those that are in the dark. If he or anyother pastors think this is not the case they should please present it publically with Scriptures bearing in mind that we are UNDER GRACE and not under the LAW.
Many gays and lesbians have faith to believe in the Works of the Cross and what Jesus has done for them, they having accepted Christ as their saviour believe that they can be gay as Jesus has paid the Price for their sin. In explaining further yes it was forbidden under the Law ( Leviticus 18v22) WE AS CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW but under Grace. Jesus has made Gays and Lesbians acceptible in the Beloved by taking away the sin and the law for it was necessary.
My advice to the pastor and all like him who sit around doing nothing whilst people who believe in the Completed works of the Cross are imprisoned is this : they that lead into Captivity will themselves go into it Selah, as Jesus did not say that they should imprison gays !
I appreciate your effort and great understanding on this controversial issue. But some point for you to consider
ReplyDeleteEvery one is subject to the law
''Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.'' Rom 13:1
Also, the bible tells us that in
Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
What marriage? Lets look at origin in Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Here, you will find that, there is blessings in marriage between a man and a woman. Marriage is clearly defined here as between a man and a woman. You don't see animals having same sex marriage: no studies yet. If that was the case, myself and you will not be in existence.
Lastly, I don't believe we should judge one another. But the the bible encourages us to tell the world that the words in the bible are “trustworthy and true.'' Rev 22:6
As Christians, I encourage you to complete Rev 22
verse (10) Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. 11 Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.
