MTV Africa Music Awards also known as'' MAMA''  started in 2008 in Abuja, Nigeria, to celebrate the finest talents from Africa in the field of music.

In the category'' Best Francophone Artist'' Gabonese face the group Hope 2000 Côte d'Ivoire, Ferre Gola of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the duo Toofan Togo and rapper Franco-Congolese Youssoupha .
