Who Will Win Lagos State?

Who Will Win Lagos State?

According to our statistical election-forecasting machine,Nigeria's APC is likely going to retain their
position at the Feb 28 governorship election. Regardless of whether Jonathan or Buhari wins, Nigeria’s presidential election, the new governor of Lagos state will play a huge role in the development and growth of Nigeria.

The race for the 2015 Governorship elections in Lagos State is heating up and major candidates, Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

With one eye on the presidential election, the second eye is solely focused on who will win Lagos state. The APC through the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), have ruled Lagos since 1999. Former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, and current Gov. Babatunde Fashola have received international acclaim for their governance model

With Fashola term-limited, Lagos’s next governor will most likely be APC candidate Akinwunmi Ambode – another veteran of Tinubu’s administration. In 2011, the ACN won 81 percent of the vote.

Osaseye agree with the Washington Post by Alex Thurston that 'If the APC loses Lagos’s governorship this year, it will be a sign either that things went terribly wrong for the APC’s campaign or that massive fraud occurred. In either case, it would bode poorly for the APC’s continued existence as a viable national party. An Ambode victory, on the other hand, would likely represent continuity in policy. Finally, it will be important to see whether the APC can deliver Lagos for Buhari – a strong showing in the southwest and the “Middle Belt” could give the APC the presidency.'

Nigerians arrested on gay wedding says "It was my birthday party''
"It was my birthday party, not a gay wedding," 18-year-old Faruk Maiduguri, told reporters at the Hisbah offices that he and his friends were only celebrating his birthday.

The Islamic law-enforcement agency, the Hisbah, said on Tuesday

"We have 12 men in custody, including the bride. We arrested them at the venue of a planned gay wedding," Daurawa told AFP.

"We got information of the wedding four days earlier and our men stormed the venue while the wedding was about to start."

Many guests escaped during the raid, he added.

Daurawa said the suspects, who came from Kano, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Bauchi,  Ibadan and Osogbo  "looked and acted feminine", which prompted their arrest.

Some of them were discharged while others were released on bail.

Nigeria's Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act carries penalties of up to 14 years in jail for anyone confirmed to be in a gay union.

Gabriel Paulista signs for Arsenal from Villareal

Gabriel Paulista signs for Arsenal

Arsenal have completed the signing of Gabriel Paulista from La Liga side Villareal, according to reports from Spain. The 24-year-old Brazilian is said to have signed a four and a half year deal with the Gunners pending a medical and a work permit.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this week that the club were in talks with Villarreal in a bid to sign the central defender Gabriel Paulista.

"The talks are progressing quite well," he said. "Can we find an agreement or not I don't know. We are slowly progressing and there is a chance." Wenger said

Gabriel Paulista was left out of the Villareal squad to face Levante at the weekend and also on the official club announcement altogether, which suggests he was a move closer to leaving the Spanish outfit.

Brazilian Gabriel said goodbye to Villarreal fans ahead of their La Liga clash with Levante on Saturday.

The deals were soon confirmed via statements on the Villarreal club website, with the Spanish outfit saying that there were still some details to be concluded before everything was finalised.

"Ahead of the finalisation of some small contractual details on Monday, Villarreal and Arsenal have agreed the transfer of the Brazilian defender Gabriel Armando de Abreu," the statement said. "Once the centre-half passes a medical he will join the London Premier League club."

The statement on the Campbell deal also said the move was still dependent on a medical.

"Villarreal and Arsenal have reached agreement for the loan for the Costa Rican player Joel Campbell, who after passing the usual medical will play with the 'Submarine' until the end of the season."

Women as Entrepreneurs | Nigeria's No. 1

Women as Entrepreneurs | Nigeria's No. 1

Entrepreneurship may be the way for women to break out of corporate constraints in Nigeria and across the globe. By many measures, Nigerian women are surpassing men in the zeal and tenacity with which they pursue their dreams. Global data suggest women are leaving the workforce in droves in favor of being at home. This time, not to be a homemaker or a housewife, but as job-making entrepreneurs. Osaseye is providing this data from 2013 (chart above by prepaideconomy)

Current data shows that African women are leading the pack in owning and running their own business. Nigeria ranks top of the continent with Zambia, Ghana, Malawi  and Uganda in the top five charts.

Angola, Botswana, USA, UK, Norway and France completes the list of top ten countries where women dominate as entrepreneurs.

"Would you marry someone TWICE your age?"

date or marry someone TWICE your age?"
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, 71, and his 25-year-old actress girlfriend Scarlett Sabet pictured above have a 46 year age gap between them. As Page celebrated his birthday at Nando's this week, the question most people asked was as a man or woman "Would you marry someone TWICE your age?"

So why do some men and women go for someone much older or younger instead or a person their own age? Sex therapist Louise Van De Velde says it's a cliche, but age is nothing but a number.

Is Age really a problem...My wife is 20 years younger than myself. My wife/husband earns a larger wage bill than me. So the problem remains. Would you marry someone twice your age or is it always about money or security .

President Jonathan busy campaigning in Nigeria Massacre

President Jonathan busy campaigning in Nigeria Massacre

He became Nigeria President by luck. Goodluck Jonathan is very incompetent to run. Goodluck Jonathan is actually a badluck Nigeria. “Here hundreds of people are being killed at Baga and other places in Nigeria, but the President is busy campaigning. It is very sad.” The sad news is that some sector of Nigerians still support him. The time is up for Jonathan.

Goodluck Jonathan's trend of silence is not helping Nigeria.

A day after gunmen killed 12 people at the French satirical weekly, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris on Jan. 7, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan quickly issued a statement calling the attack a “dastardly terrorist attack.”

The same time period, Boko Haram Islamist raided and killed more than 2000 people in Nigeria, in his own country and his office have said very little. His spokesmen, Doyin Okupe, posted a Jan. 10 Twitter message questioning the reported death toll, while outspoken Reuben Abati, didn’t answer calls to his mobile phone.

It’s not the first time that Jonathan, a 57 year old man has remained silent about Islamist militant attacks in Nigeria. When Boko Haram militants kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls from the northeastern village of Chibok in April, Jonathan made no public comment for almost three weeks. He refused publicly to visit the town.

After a deadly bomb blast killed more than 100 people in the capital Abuja last year, Jonathan was pictured dancing away at a political rally the next day.
“By acknowledging the scale of the violence, he’s acknowledging a certain degree of his failure as a president, so he’s not going to talk about security with less than six weeks to go before the election,” Manji Cheto, vice-president of corporate advisory company Teneo Intelligence, said today by phone from London.

The governor of Borno, the state most affected by Boko Haram, has publicly stated that the Islamists are much better armed than the soldiers. The military’s annual budget exceeds £4bn, but Soldiers are not well trained and armed to combat the Isamist group. Perhaps ask the commander in chief. No he won't comment on his administration corruption either.

40 world leaders condemn attack in Paris Not Nigeria

40 world leaders condemn attack in Paris Not Nigeria

At least 3.7 million people, including 50 world leaders, marched in anti-terrorism rallies in Paris and elsewhere in France on Sunday for the 12 people that was killed in an attack on the Paris satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Look miles away to Nigeria where more than 2000 people were killed. No demonstration, not a single rally or world leader to condemn the attack in Nigeria by Boko Haram in what has been described as the deadliest attack in history.

Hollywood star, Boris Kodjoe questioned why world leaders are not concerned about Boko Haram. Osaseye agrees with Boris on this issue. But first, it starts with the people of Nigeria, then the leaders in Nigeria before the world. Nigerians are so quiet on this matter. It is as is.

Like Wenger, Nigeria President Jonathan is a specialist in failure

Wenger, Nigeria President Jonathan is a specialist in failure
Nigerians and Osaseye sparks new war of words for the upcoming presidential election and says President Goodluck Jonathan is a specialist in failure. This famous quotes originated from Chelsea's Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho who says the Arsenal manager is a 'specialist in failure.' The Chelsea boss also added that he would 'not come back to London' if he had gone eight years without a trophy.
Wenger, Nigeria Jonathan is a specialist in failure

Recently on New Year's eve, Catholic priest, Father Ejike Mbaka, delivered a sermon, which was very critical of the Goodluck Jonathan's administration. The priest asked the Nigerian president to step out of the general elections coming up next month, as he would not get a second term in office.

After six years as  President of Nigeria, there are millions of calls that President Goodluck Jonathan has failed. In Nigerians own words, he is a specialist in failure like Arsene Wenger.

He has failed in delivery stable power supply following multi-million electricity privatization; water supply is non-existent, dead and clogged water pipes; unemployment at record high; fuel scarcity at its peak, currency devaluation and inflation, massive failure in education as reported by the failed WAEC trends, Corruption at its best and the big one everyone is talking about SAFETY. No one is safe in Nigeria. Boko Haram is pretty much ruling Nigeria toe-to-toe.

The debate on who will become the next president of Nigeria continues. One thing is for sure. The election will be contested between Buhari and Jonathan.

Nigeria's deadliest terror attacks

Nigeria's deadliest terror attacks

12 dead in deadliest terrorist attack on Paris. This is front page on major news headlines. In Nigeria, Thousands of bodies — too many to count . Amnesty International says about 2,000 Nigerians killed by Boko Haram extremists, in deadliest massacre of its inhabitants.

"The attack on Baga and surrounding towns, looks as if it could be Boko Haram's deadliest act in a catalogue of increasingly heinous attacks carried out by the group," says Daniel Eyre, a Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International. "If reports that the town was largely razed to the ground and that hundreds or even as many as two thousand civilians were killed are true, this marks a disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram's ongoing onslaught against the civilian population."

The previous bloodiest day in the uprising involved soldiers gunning down unarmed detainees freed in a March 14, 2014, attack on Giwa military barracks in Maiduguri city. Amnesty said then that satellite imagery indicated more than 600 people were killed that day.

The Wall Street Journal reports: "Boko Haram fighters swept through the surrounding villages outside Baga, killing residents of communities who they consider to be opponents, as well as men who tried to escape, according to Mr. Masta and other survivors, as well as officials and local vigilantes. On Wednesday, Boko Haram burned down the entire town."

Since last weekend's attack, Niger has now said that it will not help the multinational force retake the town, the BBC says.

The violence has seen a bloody uptick in the run-up to next month's presidential elections in Nigeria.

Wife Rejects $975 Million Divorce Check, How much money is enough?

Wife Rejects $975 Million Divorce Check

A check for nearly $975 million is apparently not enough for a divorce settlement when your ex-husband is oil tycoon Harold Hamm.

Hamm's second wife Sue Ann Arnell rejected a check for $974,790,317.77 written Monday as a settlement for their divorce, Hamm's attorneys confirmed, according to CNN Money. Arnell, an economist and lawyer who previously held executive positions at Hamm's company Continental Resources, reportedly believes she is entitled to more because she helped the billionaire CEO amass his fortune.

The couple got married in 1988 and have two children together, had no prenuptial agreement, and their divorce has dragged on for two and a half years.

In November, Oklahoma Special Judge Howard Haralson ordered Hamm to pay his ex $1 billion in what was one of the largest divorce settlements in U.S. history. Oklahoma law states that wealth from the "efforts, skills or funds of either spouse is subject to 'equitable distribution,'" according to Reuters.

However, Arnell appealed the ruling in December, calling the $1 billion sum "inappropriate" and citing 78 alleged errors that led to her getting shortchanged.

Hamm, whose estimated $19 billion net worth has reportedly declined due to tumbling oil prices, also appealed the ruling, calling the $1 billion settlement “erroneous and inequitable," Reuters noted last week.

Hindu women to have 4 children to stop rise of Christianity in India

The statements of a parliamentarian from the Hindu nationalist party in power have fueled the existing controversy on conversions to Hinduism in India with a large number of Muslims, Christians and Buddhists.

A parliamentarian of the Hindu nationalist party in India asked Hindu women to have at least four children to "protect their religion" from a looming drop and possible extinction.

Sakshi Maharaj said Tuesday that  "The time has come for Hindu women to have at least four children to protect the Hindu religion"

Muslim and Christian groups as well as opponents of the government have accused the Indian radical organizations of forcing or inducing members of religious minorities to convert to Hinduism.

Hindus account for 80% of India's population of 1.25 billion. The country is officially secular and has a large number of Muslims, Christians and Buddhists. The birth rate in India has dropped dramatically in 20 years, in part because of better education of women, according to a recent government study.

Sorry, No such thing as ''Healthy Obese'' New Study

 ''Healthy Obese'' New Study

People who are #obese may appear healthy for a while but their condition declines over time, said a study out Monday that followed more than 2,500 people for 20 years.

The research by scientists at University College London is the longest of its kind, and its findings support previous research that there is no such thing as healthy obese.

For the purposes of the research, “healthy obesity” was defined as not having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or other metabolic risk factors.

A total of 2,521 men and women between the ages of 39 and 62 were followed for the study that measured their body mass index, cholesterol, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose and insulin resistance.

A total of 181 participants were initially classified as obese, including 66 who were considered “healthy obese.”

By the time the two decades had passed, just over half of the healthy obese people had become unhealthy obese.

Only 11 percent of those who were obese at the start of the study lost pounds and reached normal weight.

“A core assumption of healthy obesity has been that it is stable over time, but we can now see that healthy obese adults tend to become unhealthy obese in the long term, with about half making this transition over 20 years in our study,” said lead study author Joshua Bell.

“Healthy obesity is a high-risk state with serious implications for disease risk.”

Nearly 36 percent of adults in the United States are obese, and nearly 25 percent of adults in Britain are obese, according to estimates from government health authorities.

“Healthy obesity is only valid if it is stable over time, and our results indicate that it is often just a phase,” added Bell.

The research was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Man with extra Penis answers 12,000 Questions

Man with extra Penis answers 12,000 Questions

A man in the US born identity withheld for privacy issues has two penises: One is about 7 inches in length, and the other 6. Again, this man has two penises — not one and a mini-penis, but two, fully functioning, full-sized penises.

He has a condition called Diphallia, a very rare occurrence in which a male is born with two penises. Diphallia affects 1 in 5.5 million men in the United States. There are currently about 100 cases worldwide.

His two penises are both functional – meaning both can pee and both can ejaculate. And he is not ashamed of his condition. He has already answered close to 12, 000 questions about his extra penis. Some of the questions involves the use of the extra balls. Yes, he uses them both during sex, sometimes in the same hole at the same time (he’s bisexual, and both men and women have been able to take both at once).

Here’s some of the other questions people asked the man aka “DoubleDickDude”

Have you ever had any special reaction from a doctor with this?
DDD: Yeah, one grabbed like five others in the building. That was the last time my mom let anyone examine me for any reason besides personal check-ups. She said “my son is not a freak show” and slapped one of them. lol
Do they both hang to one side of your pants, or do they split the seam?
DDD: when i go commando, which is almost always except in winter, they take their own sides. the seam can be a pain sometimes because the skin between them is a little delicate and sensitive.
Has having both ever landed you in a situation where you wish that you only had one normal penis?
DDD: Two words: High school.
Are there any medical complications?
DDD: My prostate gets inflamed if I dont ejaculate enough. I’m probably the only guy with a legit reason to orgasm at least once every day or two days. My prostate gets stimulation from both cocks and creates a lot of seminal fluid. So when i cum it has to be squeezed every few days to get all the excess out. otherwise it feels bloated and painful.
Are you a Ghostbusters fan? Have you ever crossed the streams?
DDD: HAHAHAHAHAHA. you can never cross the streams, it would be bad.
Do you shower at the Y or wait until you get home? How do you deal with the triple takes? I’m assuming you get stares and not just sneak-a-peaks.
DDD: I generally avoid public bathrooms and if I do use one i try to use the stall and not a wall urinal. There’ve been times where I’ve had to use the urinal and because i have one muscle that controls my piss, it lets the stream flow out both my dicks. so unless i pinch off one of them it comes out both and that doesnt feel good. So I have to take both out to pee. Yeah Ive gotten stares and even had a few guys at various times go HOLY SHIT.
Do you have a favorite?
DDD: Yes. the right one. The left one has a grudge against me for it too. lol
Was there a reason your parents didn’t consider having the ‘second’ one removed when you were a kid?
DDD: Yeah. Because I was born with it for a reason. My mom admitted recently she had no idea what that reason was, but it’s there so it stays there. Glad she did, after everything because I really am one in millions. besides the ego boost it really makes a person feel special knowing there is likely no one else like you alive right now.

Year 2015 Latest Ankara Fashion

Year 2015 Latest Ankara Fashion
From Lagos, Nigeria is this first 2015 post on latest ankara fashion. The outfit was made by Nigerian fashion designer Remi by Layide.

Layide has always been curious about fashion but not in the usual way. Being a tomboy for the better part of her childhood and early adult years, she did not see the need for all the complexity that came with female clothing.

Now she’s all grown up but her views on female fashion remain the same. She still shies away from complex cuts and prefers simple, clean lines which create a lean, elegant silhouette. Her designs are a true reflection of simple elegance.

After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at Texas A&M University, she migrated to the country of love and haute couture, France, where she completed her Masters in International Business degree programme at the Grenoble Ecole de Management.

Steven Gerrard: I'd leave Liverpool Football Club

Steven Gerrard: I'd leave Liverpool Football Club
Liverpool confirmed in a statement Friday that the club captain Steven Gerrard is to leave at the end of this season.

Liverpool FC said the Reds captain will bring the curtain down on a glittering Anfield career that has spanned nearly 17 years and included 10 trophies, as well as 695 appearances and 180 goals to date since joining the club's youth system aged eight.

"Gerrard will not retire from professional football at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. No decision on his new club has been made yet, but he will continue his career outside the United Kingdom and at a side that will not bring him into direct competition with Liverpool," added the statement.

The 34-year-old admits it is with a heavy heart he will depart Liverpool, describing the decision as the "toughest of his life", but has chosen to make it now to avoid speculation about his future.

Gerrard said: "This has been the toughest decision of my life and one which both me and my family have agonized over for a good deal of time.

"I am making the announcement now so that the manager and the team are not distracted by stories or speculation about my future.

"Liverpool Football Club has been such a huge part of all our lives for so long and saying goodbye is going to be difficult, but I feel it's something that's in the best interests of all involved, including my family and the club itself.

"I'm going to carry on playing and although I can't confirm at this stage where that will be, I can say it will be somewhere that means I won't be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool - that is something I could never contemplate.

"My decision is completely based on my wish to experience something different in my career and life and I also want to make sure that I have no regrets when my playing career is eventually over.

"I can't thank Brendan, the owners and everyone at the club enough for how they've handled this and I am leaving on great terms. Also, I would like to thank my teammates and all the staff for their help and continued support.

"It is a very special place to be part of. It is my sincere hope and wish that one day I can return to serve Liverpool again, in whatever capacity best helps the club.

"One point that is important to make is that from now until the last kick of the last game of the season, I will be as fully committed to the team as I ever have been and giving everything I have to help Liverpool win games.

"My final message is for the people who make Liverpool Football Club the greatest in the world - the supporters.

"It has been a privilege to represent you, as a player and as captain. I have cherished every second of it and it is my sincere wish to finish this season and my Liverpool career on a high."

Solo Wedding Trends: Woman Marries herself

Woman gets fed up with being single - and marries herself

Single woman who failed to find love are now marrying themselves. Are you worried about not finding a partner to marry in your lifetime: fear not. Because Japan has come up with a solution to it.
Marry yourself. Solo weddings are a thing now. The biggest group among the  women marrying themselves comprised those in their late 30s, followed by women in their 40s and 50s.

As of late December, about 30 women from across Japan have used the solo wedding package, which also includes services such as a one-night stay at a Kyoto hotel, transportation by limousine and a photo album.

The Japanese based travel agent, Cerca Travel, has launched a "solo wedding trip" which enables single ladies to simply marry themselves at prices starting from just £1,700.

Who needs another person to declare their undying love and eternal unity with you, when you've got yourself?

"Are you starting 2015 single and dreaming of your big day, but lacking the all-important ring or groom to get you there? Or is it the case that you simply dream of being dressed in a stunning traditional Japanese kimono but have never had the chance? ... Cerca Travel is offering wannabe brides the chance to create the picture perfect Japanese wedding without the need to officially tie the knot."

Osaseye poll about half of the solo wedding service users were married women who either did not have a wedding ceremony or were not satisfied with that experience.

New Year, Same Nigeria Problems

New Year, Same Nigeria Problems

The first hours of a new year are always an ideal time for people across the globe to reflect on their themselves, the country and the government. They are an ideal moment to look back, in the hope that serious reflection (not just on 2014 but the last four decades) can improve conditions going forward. It is particularly vital that we in Nigeria stop this nonsensical of the government or a change in government will create jobs and decrease the rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

The Goodluck Jonathan administration wasn't different from the past administration. The government does not create jobs and should not be the sole source of employment. Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has charged the Federal Government to prioritise the creation of employment opportunities for the nation’s teaming youths in the 2015 budget. Nigeria has one of the highest rate of unemployment in the world following the publicly reported 24 per cent rate.

One of Nigeria’s most influential pastors, the General Evangelist Worldwide of Christ Apostolic Church, Prophet Samuel Kayode Abiara sees no foundation behind the unemployment problem in Nigeria.

He said ''I believe many of you know that God has blessed Nigeria with different natural resources. Apart from oil, we have good soil, weather, and many other untapped natural resources. This means more jobs can be created through these resources if they are exploited.'' I fully agree with this statement.

“A lot of Nigerians are hardworking. Many people want to work but cannot find work. They even want to venture into business but are not encouraged. For instance, the roads are in terrible state and as a result many hours are wasted in traffic every day. Vehicles get spoilt easily, while many unavoidable accidents happen because of bad roads.” I strongly disagree with the latter. Many Nigerians are not hardworking. They are blessed with talents and gifts currently not being utilized to their maximum potential. Majority of the unemployed believes that government is to blame for their unemployed state. Graduates sees no interest in becoming entrepreneurs-starting a small business from scratch.

Director-General of the Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA), Mr Olusegun Oshinowo, said that over 40 million Nigerian youths remained unemployed, in spite of the Federal Government's efforts at reducing unemployment. 40 million is alot. Nigerians needs to step up and turn their brilliant ideas into business. Enough of the stupid jokes on Nigerian forums like nairaland, gossip blogs and government talks. Start afresh in this new year.
