Man convicted of raping his 3-year-old daughter only gets probation

Man convicted of raping his 3-year-old daughter only gets probation
It seems the wealthy can kill people, rape babies and nothing will be done to them even in America. If it was a poor man from the streets he would be serving a 20 year sentence right now. If this disgusting story had originated from Africa, it will be a week story re-run until the world has had enough.

But it is an American. Very wealthy. Wholly exempt from the law. The word corruption will never be mentioned talk less of bribery. It is the typical American story of being good and the others(Africa) being bad. Remember the movie 'Angels vs Demons.' A Delaware man convicted of raping his three-year-old daughter was only given probation after a state Superior Court judge ruled he "will not fare well" in prison. ''Who does well in prison?'' Osaseye simply ask. What kind of excuse is that? From Affluenza case to Will not Fare Well.

Judge Jan Jurden suggested 41 year old Robert H. Richards IV would benefit more from treatment. Richards, who was charged with fourth-degree rape in 2009, is an unemployed heir living off his trust fund. The light sentence has only became public as the result of a subsequent lawsuit filed by his ex-wife, which charges that he penetrated his daughter with his fingers while masturbating, and subsequently assaulted his son as well.

Richards is the great grandson of du Pont family patriarch Irenee du Pont, a chemical baron.

According to the lawsuit filed by his ex-wife, Richard admitted to assaulting his infant son in addition to his daughter between 2005 and 2007. Richards was initially indicted on two counts of second-degree child rape, felonies that translate to a 10-year mandatory jail sentence per count. He was released on $60,000 bail while awaiting his charges.

Richards hired one of the state's top law firms and was offered a plea deal of one count of fourth-degree rape charges -- which carries no mandatory minimum prison sentencing. He accepted, and admitted to the assault. So why is he scot free? He will not fare well in Jail but well enough to hire a top attorney.

"Child protection laws are there to safeguard children, and adults who knowingly harm children should be punished"
"Our prisons should be more rehabilitative environments, but the prison system's inadequacies are not a justification for letting a child molester off the hook."

The US court systems is corrupt like every other country. This is a story where your money can buy justice. Such a sad news for the baby.

Davido's Concert Wack as Hell: Everything Gone Wrong

The day after the eagerly anticipated Davido's New York Concert is here. All the verdicts are in. $600 for VIP Table, $50 ticket at door, $40 ticket in advance, 20 mins performance by the 'Aye' or 'Skelewu' artist. Everything went wrong on the night of the concert.
Davido's Concert Wack as Hell: Everything Gone Wrong

The cameo was wack. For $50, Davido was rude, VERY RUDE. I am disappointed. Hundreds of die hard opened up about the friday night concert. The show organizer should refund the money to his supporters.NYPD shut down the concert for overcrowding. The attendance was great. Nigerians, Liberians, Sierra Leonans, Ghanaians and others were present but the concert was livid.

Nkandla Style Storms South Africa Scandal

Nkandla gone Gangnam Style is the new talking trend from South Africa.

Nkandla Style a new South African hit was uploaded on YouTube yesterday. Its a parody of the YouTube hit, Gangnam Style. Nkandla Style, in reference to the Nkandla scandal of South African President Jacob Zuma is currently turning viral. President Jacob Zuma spent US$ 23 Million upgrading his personal home at state expense has taking a new hit.

Nkandla Style Storms South Africa Scandal

A number of interesting points were raised in a new 400 page report published about the Nkandla scandal. Some of them are:

Zuma violated the Executive Ethics Code in his failure to act in protection of state resources.

The state violated the constitution by using funds allocated to Public Works service delivery.

The ‘fire pool’, amphitheater, cattle kraal etc. went beyond what was reasonably required for Zuma’s security.

Zuma must repay the state for what it spent on non-security measures.

The helipad and clinic should have been built in a way to benefit the community.

Zuma misled Parliament unintentionally when he claimed Govt. didn’t build any houses for him.

Zuma’s private architect earned R16.5-million from the project.

We don’t know who the person behind it is, they go by the name Nkandla Staail and it looks like they just recently set up a YouTube channel and put the song up.

Check out the Nkandla Style music video below:

Long Distance Relationships: What were you thinking?

The exotic or adventurous-vacation aspect is the number one positive in being in a long distance relationship but the not being physically is the biggest negative. Hasn't worked for many but then the military families are doing very well. Osaseye revisit the positives and negatives in being in a long distance relationship. Maybe, the older you get, the harder it becomes. Call it desperation like Judy hill simply titled it.
Relationship-Saving Lessons from Long-Distance Couples

However, a study in the Journal of Communications has shown that absence might truly make the heart grow fonder and that couples who participate in a healthy long-distance relationship can have more meaningful interactions than couples who see each other daily.

"While martially it wouldn't work out because Physical attraction just wasn't there. My Long distance ex is literally my best friend. He knows more about me then my face to face friends, and he's made it clear my parents don't need to worry. If I can't get my mental health to a level that I can live on my own and take care of myself he fully intends to do it, because we all know my family once my parents are gone won't do a thing for me." says Elizabeth

"So in a way it did work out in the end. I've never had a friend I couldn't live without till him. And I don't mean because of my mental disabilities. I'll always chose him over other people." she added

''It won't work out at the end" argued James.

"People that start a relationship long distance always seem desperate to me. Those that are forced into it are even worse off at the end than at the start of the relationship"

Long distance relationships are not for everybody. They are full of meaningless arguments, jealousy, lonely nights, and lack of trust. Whether it is "really worth it or not, your call or test of duty."

"I did it for two years -- and then I married the man. Yes, being in a long distance relationship is difficult, but when it is with the right person, it isn't half bad. It taught us a lot about ourselves, things we might not have figured out otherwise." Chioma

So what do you think of long distance relationships?

The Senate this morning confirmed the appointment of Mr Godwin Emefiele as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. What happened to Sanusi's deputy being made the governor?  Best Man for the Job: What the Hell is President Goodluck Jonathan Thinking?

Eyebrows raised. Words closed mouthed. Loud applause at the Senate and Presidential Villa. The President-man has been anointed. He is the chosen one unlike his predecessor. He will bend and keep quiet. No report of stolen funds will be leaked. What a scam. Emefiele was the Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank before his new appointment. Remembering Chinua Achebe: A Year Later

Chinua Achebe: A Year Later

Osaseye waited quietly to see those who will remember Nigerian literary icon Chinua Achebe who passed away on March 21st, 2013. A year later, most of his friends and even country people has forgotten about him. Nigeria forgot to pause and remember one of African's great.  It's funny how people forget about what you have done when you're gone. That day was a day of great sorrow for me, Nigerians and the world at large.

"On a more personal note of course his loss is still hard to bear but must be accepted. Chinua Achebe was here for a purpose which he clearly fulfilled and has moved on. It is left for his millions of heirs to take up his battle cry.'' wrote Ngozi Achebe, niece to Chinua Achebe.

"Importantly too his book Arrow of God came of age this year celebrating a half century. While Things Fall Apart is regarded as his magnum opus, there is no doubt that Chinua Achebe himself had a special love for Arrow of God. In the preface of the second edition he declared, tongue in cheek no doubt, that no pater familias worth his salt would be so unwise as to choose favorites amongst his offspring. However, he did say that it was the one book more than any other that he was likely to be caught reading. I know what he meant. It was also my own favorite too until I met and fell in love with his 1987 Anthills of the Savannah and never looked back. Many events have been slated all over the world this year to celebrate this true literary masterpiece."

Courageous or Crazy: Naked Yoga Classes

The studio in New York City says that erections during the class do occur, but happen ‘rarely’. Courageous or Crazy?
Naked Yoga Classes
Group classes start at $25 a pop, and one-on-one sessions are available for $135.

Much like in fully-clothed yoga classes, Bold & Naked, co-owned by Joschi Schwarz, and also the instructor said that students should expect for teachers to hand-administer postural corrections. Partner work is also sometimes involved in the classes’ vinyasa flow sequences.
Courageous or Crazy: Naked Yoga Classes

But according to the studio, none of this body-to-body contact is meant as ‘sexual touching and should any contact of sexual nature occur, it will not be tolerated and will result in the offending member being asked to leave.

‘Anyone who has been asked to leave will not be allowed back to attend classes in the future.’

Bold & Naked has actually firmly stated on their site (in capitals, no less): ‘IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ORGASM, YOU ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE.’

To those looking for a peep show, they say: ‘Don’t waste your time. The energy in the room is very clear and members who come to Bold & Naked are very focused on celebrating their bodies through yoga.’

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West In Vogue

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West In Vogue
After months of speculation, a slew of rumors and perhaps even a bit of competition from sister Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian has finally landed herself a Vogue cover. The 33-year-old and her beau look beautiful, very much in love and dare we say... classy, in the highly anticipated cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz. Kim Kardashian took to twitter Friday morning to share the exciting news:This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can't even breath!

A backlash from the hashtag #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple continues nationwide. Some critics even saying they have lost respect for Vogue magazine. Some called it a paid cover post. I don't believe it was paid for, the couple looks cute in the photoshoot together.

They are world superstars who generate an increase in readers, listeners, viewers and clicks. However, I think the summountable criticm and sarcasm against the worlds most talked about couple is a bit harsh. What do you think?

UNEQUAL EDUCATION in AMERICA: RACISM REPORTS

UNEQUAL EDUCATION in AMERICA: RACISM REPORTS
It is like night and day. The day belongs to White Americans and Night for the less privileged Black minority students. There's an unequal access and opportunity here in America. As sad as it is, one is school to career and the other is school to drop outs or prison. Studies have proven a poor education leads to higher risks of committing crimes, drug and alcohol problems, and imprisonment.

Black students are suspended or expelled at triple the rate of their white peers, according to the U.S. Education Department's 2011-2012 Civil Rights Data Collection, a survey conducted every two years. Five percent of white students were suspended annually, compared with 16 percent of black students, according to the report. Black girls were suspended at a rate of 12 percent -- far greater than girls of other ethnicities and most categories of boys.

Seven percent of black students attend schools where as many as 20 percent of teachers fail to meet license and certification requirements. And one in four school districts pay teachers in less-diverse high schools $5,000 more than teachers in schools with higher black and Latino student enrollment.

"This data collection shines a clear, unbiased light on places that are delivering on the promise of an equal education for every child and places where the largest gaps remain," U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said in a statement. "In all, it is clear that the United States has a great distance to go to meet our goal of providing opportunities for every student to succeed."

According to the new data, disparities begin as early as preschool. Black students make up 18 percent of preschool enrollment, but they comprise 48 percent of preschool students receiving more than one suspension out of school. White students, representing 43 percent of preschool students, only receive 26 percent of out-of-school suspensions more than once.

Second place goes to another Senegalese Dieynaba Bakiri Ndoye (37), co-founder signs Colorii specializing in beauty devoted to black and mestizo women.

Woman Dies after Injecting Vaseline into Breasts

Woman Dies after Injecting Vaseline into Breast

An Argentine woman Llanzon Sonia Perez, 39, died of a pulmonary embolism caused by the injection of Vaseline on her breasts.

"Sonia Pérez Llanzon was hospitalized with breast lesions for a month before she passed away. They were like blows, "reported Dr. Julio Pla Cardenas, head of surgical clinic of Lucio Springs Santa Rosa, a city located 640 km southwest of Buenos Aires.

According to the doctor "First, she denied everything but later confessed that she applied Vaseline, an oily liquid made with oil, very dense," said Cardenas

Vaseline reached the bloodstream and then Sonia has affected his lungs, causing breathing difficulties. The patient then began to breathe with the help of machines.

"Throughout my professional life, I have never seen a case. The body has antibodies to remove bacteria and viruses, but against this type of element no mechanisms, "the expert told La Arena, Santa Rosa.

The woman like most women around the globe was constantly worried about her look.

In Argentina body image is an obsession for both men and women. Surgery to increase breasts and buttocks, and other parts, grew 500% over the last four years, according to data released IV Argentine Congress of Medical Specialties in Aesthetics, held in February.

Argentina is among the 25 countries where most do plastic surgery for cosmetic purposes, according to a study by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Missing pieces of Malaysian Boeing found

Missing pieces of Malaysian Boeing found
Two objects observed in the Indian Ocean are "probably the best indication that we currently have found the missing aircraft from Malaysia Airlines. The unit of Malaysia Airlines with 239 people on board went missing since Saturday March 8. Flight MH370 was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Australian Coast Guard John Young announced that debris of the plane missing for 13 days of Malaysia Airlines were discovered floating on 2660 kilometers southwest of the city of Perth. One of the pieces is 24 feet long.
Missing Plane of Malaysian Boeing found

"We have to find, view and judge to know if it really is meaningful or not," said Young."The objects are quite clear on the images," he told reporters in Canberra.

"I do not claim to be the judge of the images, an expert but experts suggest that the sightings are credible."

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced it earlier in parliament that the Coast Guard had obtained from "satellite data" about objects that might hold. Associated with research information 'new and credible " "We must keep in mind that the localization will be very difficult and it may be that they are not linked to flight MH370," he warned, however.

Father Impregnates Her Daughter Three Times after Sex

Father Impregnates Her Daughter Three Times after Sex
Shameful, Disturbing, Abominable, Inhumane acts that should never be brought to the consciousness of man. So gross but someone has to tell the story. The Nigerian state police from Edo State Police Command arrested a 37-year-old man for having sexual intercourse with his 17-year old daughter and impregnating her three times.

The breaking news broke when she became pregnant the third time and was unwilling to go for abortion osaseye gathered.

Following the report, the police arrested Augustine Obodeke who is currently in a police cell.

Narrating her ordeal to Sunday Sun, Favour said her father started having s*xual intercourse with her after the death of her mother.

“He first impregnated me and we went for abortion. My father impregnated me the second time and I went for another abortion. He had arranged a doctor at Uselu who has been doing the abortion.

“My father impregnated me the third time and told me that we should go for another abortion but I ran out of the house. He then threatened to deal with me if I told anybody what has been happening between us.

“I have to cry out early in the morning which prompted our neighbours to intervene. Since my mother was late, anytime my father requested for s*x, I felt I had no choice than to allow him have s*x with me,” Favour explained.
In his own account, Obodeke accepted that he had been sleeping with his daughter and had impregnated her thrice.

He said “It is true that I have been having s*x with my own daughter. When she became pregnant the first time, I took her to one of my doctors at Uselu Quarters who terminated the pregnancy. I impregnated her the second time and I took her to the same doctor who terminated the pregnancy again. It was when I impregnated her the third time that she refused to follow me to the doctor for the abortion.

“I decided to be have s*x with my daughter because my wife is late and I have not remarried. I decided to enjoy my own daughter by having s*x with her. I want my daughter to forgive me because I have sinned against her. Nobody told me that what I was doing to my daughter was an abomination. I thought I was enjoying the s*x with my daughter,” he said

Sanusi Talks about Changes in Response to Allegations

Sanusi Talks about Changes in Response to Allegations

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Sunday March 16th responded to allegations of financial recklessness leveled against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Federal Government. There's some sort of orderliness and calmness that surrounds Sanusi. He's very educated, its so obvious to see it in him, because it shows in everything he does, ranging from the way he speaks, how he addresses himself, how he dresses.

I am compelled to make this public statement to address the various allegations levied against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and cited as the reasons for my suspension from office as the Governor of the CBN on the 19th of February 2014.

As a matter of record, the allegations were made in the following documentsi. Briefing Note of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) dated 7th June 2013, Ref: PRES/188/T&I/89 to His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan [the Briefing Note];
ii. The Letter of Suspension dated 19th February 2014, which I received from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and
iii. The petition dated 9th February 2014 by Mr Erastus Akingbola.

However, before I go into the above issues, let me reiterate for the records, the achievements of the CBN during my tenure as the Governor:

The Record

Firstly, let me state that I have been extremely fortunate to have had a solid and supportive team led by the Deputy Governors and supported by the Departmental Directors, as well as thousands of hardworking and dedicated staff who must be given the credit for all that the CBN has achieved. I would also like to acknowledge for the record, the foundation laid by my predecessor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, in a number of areas. The CBN Act, 2007, which he championed, established the CBN as a truly autonomous entity of the Federation, and made it possible for us to take the difficult decisions necessary for restoring and maintaining macroeconomic stability. The FSS 2020 and PSV 2020 documents provided the principal strategic roadmaps that led to many of the innovations in payment systems, non-interest banking, financial inclusion, the Asset Management Corporation, IFRS, Risk-based Supervision, and the like.

Indeed, it will be impossible for me to review almost five years of revolutionary change made possible by the work of thousands of employees in the CBN in collaboration with other Regulators, Banks and Other Financial Institutions and Government Ministries in this press statement. However, I will mention a few of the key highlights.

On monetary policy, the Bank has improved the institutional framework for policy-making. A properly constituted Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) with a clear mandate for maintaining stability has been established. The MPC has been supported by improvements in research, data and forecasting capacity, and we have also paid attention to clear communication of our objectives to the market. As a result, headline inflation has remained below 10 per cent since January 2013, from a peak of 15.1 percent and 13.9 percent in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Core inflation declined from 11.2 per cent in December 2009 to 7.9 percent in December 2013, while food inflation maintained a downward trend from 15.5 percent in December 2009 to 9.3 percent in December 2013. In addition to the conventional liquidity management products, the Bank approved financial products to manage liquidity in non-interest financial institutions. The CBN also promoted the formation of the financial Markets Dealers Quotations Over–the-Counter (FQDM OTC) Plc as a self-regulatory OTC operator.

In the area of safeguarding the value of the local currency and maintaining stability in the foreign exchange market for the overall sustenance of macroeconomic stability and growth, the CBN over the period has successfully maintained a stable exchange rate regime and a robust external reserve position conducive to sustainable growth and development.

On the Banking System, I was appointed Governor in the middle of a global financial crisis when the Nigerian banking system was on the verge of collapse. The Bank moved swiftly to remove the managing directors and executive directors of the banks where major corporate governance failures were discovered, provided liquidity support, pioneered the setting up of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to purchase non-performing loans, recapitalize the banks and pilot a process that led to mergers and acquisitions, as well as recapitalization of all the weak and failing banks. As a result, all financial soundness indicators – Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Liquidity and Profitability ratios – were normalized. As a result of the work by the Bank, not a single depositor or creditor lost money in any Nigerian bank during or after the financial crisis.

In addition to the quantitative measures, we broke up universal banks and encouraged the setting up of specialized banks (including the first Non – interest Bank in the Country’s history), pushed for the adoption of IFRS and Basel 3, enhanced risk-based supervision, issued Competency Guidelines for the staff in the banking industry, established a Consumer Protection Department and developed a Financial Inclusion Strategy and Roadmap, among others for the CBN.

The Bank implemented policies aimed at reducing the excessive use of cash in the system to ensure safety, improve efficiency and curb money laundering. The transformation of NIBSS, the insistence on interoperability of channels, encouragement of electronic banking, the licensing of Mobile Money Operators, the Agent Banking and tiered-KYC frameworks have all led to rapid growth in volume and value of non-cash transaction and enhanced financial inclusion.

The Bank has played its leadership role in ensuring industry compliance with environmental sustainability and governance standards, including a strong focus on women and the handicapped.

The CBN in the last five years has taken a leading role in providing long-term low-cost funding to priority sectors of the Nigerian economy in a bid to help in bringing to reality the Transformation Agenda of the government of your Excellency. We have provided these funds at single-digit interest rates to micro, small and medium enterprises, as well as to companies operating in the power, aviation, and agricultural sectors of the economy, and also to large industrial enterprises with potential for structural transformation.

The Bank has invested in human capital, improved staff welfare and attracted and retained specialized skills in the areas of Banking Supervision, Information Technology, Shared Services and Risk Management.

On Financial Performance, the Bank has in the last five years kept a lid on overheads and cost of currency management. As a result, the Bank has continued to produce sterling results and contributed substantially to the Federal Budget. In the five years, 2009 – 2013, the Bank contributed N376 billion to the Federal Budget as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).Based on 2012 financials alone, we paid N80 billion to the Ministry of Finance. On the basis of the 2013 results and at the request of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy (CME), we paid N159 billion to the Ministry of Finance in February this year; the same month the audited accounts of the CBN were approved by the Committee of Governors (COG). Indeed, due to the precarious position of Government finances, the CBN in February 2014, upon the request of the CME, gave the Ministry a further ‘Advance IGR’ of N70 billion in anticipation of 2014 profits.

May I add that, in 2008, the year before my appointment, the CBN contributed N8 billion to the Federation Account. Although the Bank is not a profit-centre, in the first four years of my term, the Bank alone contributed 75 percent of the total IGR paid by MDAs leading to commendation by the House Committee on Finance at several Public Hearings.

Recognitions
As a result of these achievements of my colleagues and staff, we received numerous recognitions consistently throughout my tenure from highly-regarded publications. These awards are based on a competitive process where analysts and economists rank Central Bank Governors across regions and the globe.

In 2010, The Banker Magazine, a publication of Financial Times in London, named me Best Central Bank Governor in the World and Best in Africa. At the Annual World Bank/IMF Meetings, Emerging Markets, a publication of Euromoney Institutional Investor named me Best Central Bank Governor in Sub-Saharan Africa for 2009, 2010 and 2012. The African Banker Magazine named me Best Central Bank Governor in Africa, 2012. This is in addition to being named Forbes Africa Person of the year 2011 and listed by TIME as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, 2011.

I have always regarded these honours not as personal accolades, but as a tribute to our nation and the committed and resourceful women and men of CBN.

Response to the allegations in relation to my suspension

On Wednesday 10th March 2014, I submitted a Memorandumto His Excellency, Mr President, with supporting documentation, effectively addressing all the allegations contained in the FRCN Briefing Note, the Letter of Suspension and the Akingbola Petition.

Having submitted my response to the President, I am further compelled, following the recent press briefing and comments by the Senior Special Adviserto the President on Media, as well as numerous other references to the allegations in both local, international and online media, to put to the public my responses, in the interest of transparency, accountability and my responsibility to the Nigerian people.Let me also state that I saw the FRCN “Briefing Note” for the first time when it was attached to the suspension letter. At no time was this report sent to the CBN either by the President or the FRCN for comments or explanations. As for the Akingbola petition, it is a rehash of baseless allegations he has been making since 2010 which apparently he must have been asked to reproduce on February 9, ten days before the suspension. It is indeed strange that the CBN Governor can be suspended based on allegations written by a man who ran his bank into the ground and against whom judgement has been obtained in a London court, and who furthermore is facing criminal prosecution at home for offences including criminal Theft.

A careful examination of the allegations contained in the FRCN Briefing Note to Mr President, will show that each of the allegations could easily have been resolved by a simple request for clarification or more careful review. There is no doubt that if the CBN had received the Briefing Note, which was prepared in June 2013, all the misconceptions, misrepresentations and erroneous inferences contained therein would have been cleared.

I am publishing these responses to enable the general public see that each and every allegation levelled against the CBN under my leadership is false and unfounded, and that many of the allegations were malicious and fabricated, having been designed to mislead the President into believing that the Management of the Central Bank was guilty of misconduct and recklessness.

Having provided detailed explanations, backed by verifiable documents, it is my sincere wish that His Excellency, Mr President, in line with his adherence to fairness and justice, will apply the same rationale and rigour to other agencies of the Federal Government that have had serious allegations and queries levied against them, and prevail upon them to provide responses and explanations with the same level of clarity and transparency.

In closing, I would like to place on record the dogged professionalism and patriotism of the staff of the CBN. They have, over the years, conducted themselves very creditably, and discharged their duties with the highest integrity.

Unconstitutional Act of Exploitation in Nigerian Government Jobs

Unconstitutional Acts of Exploitation in Nigeria Govt. Jobs

My heart bleeds for the deceased of the stadium stampede that happened on Saturday. 16 confirmed dead, many more un-accounted for. Who is responsible for these deaths? What a national disgrace to conduct job applications and exam in a stadium. Why call for an employment screening and then charge struggling Nigerians N1,000 for such screening. Why call for an employment screening if those only to be hired have been identified and secretly selected for the job? It's so terrible the things our government put us through. Will they get away with these terrible acts against humanity. The answer like many Nigerians is a big Yes. They always take us for granted. 16 people died in stampedes when a half million people were invited to apply for fewer than 5,000 Nigerian government jobs.

Here, I believe this was an act of exploitation. Over N3 billion realized in what was supposed to be an employment exercise. One frustrated House of Reps member, Abike Dabiri-Erewa like most Nigerians, is not happy with what happened during the National Immigration Service Test which occurred across stadiums in Nigeria. She labelled it 'a failure of leadership in Nigeria' citing that the house had passed a resolution asking government agencies to stop charging applicants for employment. Verdict: The Nigeria government ignored the out cry.

Saving Education In Nigeria: How U.S, U.K, China can help

Islamic militants attacked the northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, with multiple shootings and explosions Friday morning leaving casualties. The attack started from a village on the outskirts of Maiduguri, not far from the local Giwa Army Barracks, the State Government House and a polo field in the state capital of Borno.

“Pray for us, Maiduguri is under heavy explosion and gun shots. As we speak, we are trapped and soldiers are everywhere now. The battle is ongoing around 202 and 303 Housing estate as well as University of Maiduguri side.

“We learnt that the Boko Haram insurgents came in from that side and that heavy fight is ongoing as we speak”, Jamni Jauro, an eye witnessed narrated.

“We were counting the explosions until we lost count. At first, we did not take it serious, you know the usual thing, but now, we are scared.

“Everywhere is blocked now, my children are in school and I don’t know how to go and get them, my problem is also how to go back home. We were told that so many Boko Haram members came into town. We are now praying for Allah to protect us”, Aji Kolo added.

Maiduguri and Northern Nigeria are the birthplace of the Boko Haram terrorist network that is blamed for the deaths of thousands of Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. The Nigerian military has been fighting the 4-year-old insurgency group aimed at transforming Nigeria into an Islamic state under strict Shariah law

59 high school students gunned down or burned to death in a locked dormitory in a February attack in a neighboring state.

47 people were buried in one village alone in Katsina state after Wednesday's attack.Twin car bombs exploded in a bustling marketplace in Maiduguri on March 2, killing more than 50 people. A Jan. 14 bomb killed 40 residents and a Dec. 5 assault on the air force base and a military barracks on the outskirts of town killed an unknown number of security forces and extremists who destroyed five aircraft on the runway.

More than 2,000 Nigerians have been killed by Boko Haram violence in the last six months, security sources say.

It is time Nigeria's friends and network countries reached out to Nigeria. The news is all over the web. Nigeria needs help. A very big one to stop the extinction of education in the North.

A year with Pope Francisco

A year with Pope Francisco

A year ago the Argentine Cardinal Bergoglio was elected to the grand papacy to be the top leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Jorge Mario Bergoglio appeared at the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica at 20.10 on March 13th, 2013 The chimney of the Sistine Chapel had announced his choice with the white smoke an hour before. The Pope appeared humbled in a white robe without the red moceta and an iron cross neck.

He waved, heard the Vatican anthem and then smiled and said: "Fratelli e sorelle buonasera". It was the beginning of a revolution of style, changes and renaissance. Since then a lot has happened. It seems like for over a year. Pope Francisco has "almost reached  and touched the end of the world" with his revolutionary belief.

Known for the simplicity with which exercised its functions as Cardinal Archbishop of Buenos Aires, the Argentine won sympathy logo globally. The faithful, the media and even anti-religion demonstrated tremendous goodwill with the first Latin American pope.

Adopting the austerity of his pontificate as a top brand, Francisco won the thinking still be valuable assets that the Church holds. Indeed, the treasure of the Church is the service: the poor, the underprivileged, the underdog, the needy in general.

Refusing to reside in the Pontifical Palace, paying out of pocket the hotel bill, piggybacking on a minibus or auctioning cars parked in garages Vatican, Pope signaled that the Church of the 22 century there is no place for princes: the pastor should have smell of sheep (the people), the religious should be as loving mothers and not as grumpy spinster aunts.

In his first year as Pope, Francis has already begun to 'clean up' the Church and transformed the look of  the papacy. He did enought to be winner of Time's Person of the Year in 2013. Such a great Pope.

Osaseye want to hear your opinion about the first year of Pope Francisco. What are your views and opinions?

Women, Now Men Has a Biological Clock

Women, Now Men Has a Biological Clock

So like women, men have a biological clock .  A new study suggests children with psychiatric disorder is linked to the father's advanced age.

Compared to younger fathers, older fathers' children were found to be significantly more at risk for a host of psychiatric disorders, according to the study, published Wednesday in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.

For example, the children of fathers ages 45 and over were three times more likely to have an autism spectrum disorder, 13 times more likely to have ADHD, and 24 times more likely to have bipolar disorder than the children of fathers aged 20 to 24.

For the study, researchers analyzed data from 2.6 million children born in Sweden between 1973 and 2001, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive studies on the effects of paternal age.

"The working hypothesis is that as men get older and their sperm continue to replicate, that there are more chances of having mutations in the base pairs of the DNA," says Brian D'Onofrio, lead study author and associate professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University.

"Those genetic mutations are associated with psychiatric problems."

The age-related effects were gradual, researchers found; a 35-year-old man's child had greater risks than the child of a 25-year-old man.

Breaking News: Nigerians Baffled by its Government

Breaking News: Nigerians Baffled by its Government

BBC captioned it Is Nigeria serious about tackling corruption?. The headlines from Financial Times Finding Nigeria's missing billions attempts to leave a trail. But it is New York Times that draws much attention to the current state of dilemma in Nigeria between Accountability, Transformation and Corruption. Written by Nossiter Adams the headline was simply Nigerians Ask Why Oil Funds Are Missing.

Like the other questions, the government will try to quench the fire and put out any more scandal of missing oil funds. The President had already shown its rudeness that although his administration like his predecessors are corrupt, he doesn't want any public negative image. Scandals past and present has shown that his administration is corrupt. How do you fix it? Do you silence the messenger or terminate the pest?

“A substantial amount of money has gone...It’s just a big scam,” Mr. Sanusi said in the interview. “The amount is shared by a cabal.”

“Mr. Sanusi has been making all kinds of claims to project himself as a victim,” the president's spokesman, Reuben Abati, said in an email, accusing the former bank governor of “financial recklessness, abuse of mandate, incompetence and criminal acts of negligence.”

The outspoken Central Bank governor Lamido Sanusi was suspended and later relieved of his duties. The state oil company, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), has failed to account for $20bn in oil revenues.

Still the problem exist. Kerosene sells for 140 naira a litre or 160 naira when it should be 40 naira a litre. Fuel scarcity continues to generate more interest. Nigerians still expect more than 6 hours of uninterrupted power supply. It goes on and on.

It is no longer the former CBN governor who's asking the questions about missing oil fund. Nigerians are curious and families would like to know how $1bn was disappearing every month over a 19-month period.

It is sad for the economy. Sad for a country. Shooting the messenger does not nullify the message. Can the government fire a whole country for asking for the truth?

Miley Cyrus Sings in Bra and Panties on Stage

Miley Cyrus Sings in Bra and Panties on Stage
Miley Cyrus continues her controversial tour with a new makeover challenge. The singer stepped out in bra and underwear on stage to perform some of her hit songs. How cruel?
Fans of Miley Cyrus are already used to her, but to stand only in underwear on the stage itself was quite daring for the U.S. singer. Sunday's Bangerz tour has sparked outrage among parents who took their children to watch Miley Cyrus.

Miley Cyrus admitted after the show via their Twitter account that there had been an outfit breakdown. "No new outfit for '23 '. I  had to move fast and would not be able to come out for the song. So I just had to get out in my underwear, "said the 21-year-old.

Half naked had, the pop star performed her song "23" in black and red glitter underwear. This to me is unacceptable. Nudity on stage should be banished at all times. "That's never happened to me. But I love my fans as much as they love me. I was able to '23 'not to be missed. The Show must go on! "Explains the" Wrecking Ball "interpreter of her full body use more.

Sanusi's Impact-CBN Stocks tumble, Naira falls on weak Nigeria

Sanusi's Impact-CBN Stocks tumble, Naira falls on weak Nigeria

For some investors, it is an opportunity for business. For the country, it's back to currency devaluation after the loss of CBN governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido. Just the second week after the controversia suspension to exit of Nigeria's best Central Bank Governor, the naira, is yet to stabilise.

CBN Stock continues to tumble as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) offered USD800 million but sold USD767.59 million to end users at its bi-weekly Retail Dutch Auction last week.

In simple terms it means that, the exchange rate at ‘black’ market is N172.00/USD. The removal of Sanusi is proving costly to the nation and Naira falls flat on weakened Nigeria.

Female Nigeria governors in 2014

Female Nigeria governors in 2014

On November 2006, 64 year old Virginia Ngozi Etiaba was sworn in as Nigeria's first female governor. She had been deputy governor to Peter Obi in the south-eastern Nigeria state (Anambra) and became governor when Obi was impeached. At first she refused to take the position citing that "Peter was my boss and still remains my boss." Yes,let's give women a chance to rule Nigeria. Go Etiaba! Come on Women! were the written words as banners flood Anambra State.

It is nearly ten years since the history was made. In 2014, there is no single state in Nigeria where a woman is governor. Nigerian women are still at the periphery of governance. We have women as ministers, first lady, deputy governors and other low key offices. Women needs to rise up. The likes of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Prof Dora Akunyili, Dr Oby, Merem and Ezekwesili are powerful names in Nigeria now.

The male dominant often monopolized Nigeria continues to devalue the importance of women in office. As a stupid Nigerian man argued "She was not elected, She was made governor because the ruling governor was impeached. She sold him out. She hijacked her boss. She will never have been made governor via election."

Is that really true that a Nigerian women will never be elected governor of a state in Nigeria? I don't think so. I'm of the opinion that women in Nigeria politics will help empower more women and effect more changes that her male counterpart.

A mother Nigeria will do better than a corrupt father.

Isibaya is the most watched South African TV show

Isibaya is the most watched South African TV show

It is the number one most watched television show in South Africa. It is an interesting drama to watch as it keeps you on the suspense and makes you wonder what will happen on the next episode. It also touches about all aspects of South African life how are things are done and how the culture of the people.

Millions of South Africans tune in weekly to watch the show whose gripping story lines and talented cast has kept viewers glued to their screens for months.

Isibaya, which was meant to last only a year has garnered so much support from viewers that the producers have decided to turn the show into a soapie.

“We put all our creative energy into Isibaya in the hopes that it would be a success, but the response has been more than we could ever have imagined, Desiree Markgraaff, Isibaya’s executive producer and managing director of Bomb Production tells DESTINY.

She adds that they are humbled and thrilled that million viewers have enjoyed and favorites the show. He shared some light on how successful and the behind the scene hard work.

“The cast and crew work very hard to try and create exciting drama and stories that entertain and capture people’s imaginations, so it’s very rewarding to receive so much love.

“We try our best to create stories that our viewers will love, cry over, get angry about and care about. Every day we say to ourselves, ‘what are we doing to entertain people tonight? How can we be better?’ So when viewers respond positively, that is the greatest reward,” Markgraaff said.

She explained how viewer feedback helps the directors understand what the viewers want.

“Even when they are angry about a story and tell us, we try and listen and create a twist that will delight and surprise.” Markgraaff adds, “Working with the team at Mzansi Magic, who are passionate about their audience, and have been very supportive and innovative, has been great.”

"We try our best to create stories that our viewers will love, cry over, get angry about and care about."

That is the secret ingredient of South African most watched TV show. A show for the people by the people.

“The biggest expense on a production like Isibaya is people. Making a project like this work requires a big team every day. Work starts at 6am and stops after dark.”

“We are always on the search for that elusive quality that brings a character to life and is magical on screen. You can put a great actor in the wrong role and it flops. It’s about matching the qualities of an actor and role that creates magic,” Markgraaff said.

Isibaya will end on 13 March and will return on 17 of March as a soapie. I invite you to watch an episiode and see why millions South Africans stayed glued to their chairs for an hour to one of the most addictive drama in history.

Centenary Award Debate: Does Late Sani Abacha Deserves It?

The Nigerian government in celebration of 100 years since British Amalgamation of the North and South honored 100 distinguished Nigerians with the Centenary Awards. Some recipients are being awarded posthumously(i.e late Gen Sani Abacha). Some rejected the awards citing irreconcilable differences (i.e Fela Anikulapos family, MKO Abiola family and Wole Soyinka)
Centenary Award Debate: Does Late Sani Abacha Deserves It?

One of the major debate at present is whether the late dictator Gen Sani Abacha deserves the Centenary Award. In a letter published on Vanguard newspaper, Wole Soyinka lashed out at the government in what he titled “Canonisation of Terror.
"General Sanni Abacha, a vicious usurper under whose authority the lives of an elected president and his wife were snuffed out. Assassinations – including through bombs cynically ascribed to the opposition – became routine. Under that ruler, torture and other forms of barbarism were enthroned as the norm of governance. To round up, nine Nigerian citizens, including the writer and environmentalist Ken Saro-wiwa, were hanged after a trial that was stomach churning even by the most primitive standards of judicial trial, and in defiance of the intervention of world leadership. We are speaking here of a man who placed this nation under siege during an unrelenting reign of terror that is barely different from the current rampage of Boko Haram [a Jihadist group in northern Nigeria]. It is this very psychopath that was recently canonized by the government of Goodluck Jonathan in commemoration of one hundred years of Nigerian trauma.''

"[...] a murderer and thief of no redeeming quality known as Sanni Abacha, one whose plunder is still being pursued all over the world and recovered piecemeal by international consortiums – at the behest of this same government which sees fit to place him on the nation’s Roll of Honour! I can think of nothing more grotesque and derisive of the lifetime struggle of several on this list, and their selfless services to humanity. It all fits. In this nation of portent readers, the coincidence should not be too difficult to decipher. I reject my share of this national insult."

However, son of the ex-leader Sadiq Abacha wrote a response in defense of his late father through the Daily Post
"Here I find myself defending my father 15 years after his death because some of you have no one else to pounce on, or rather, you have chosen a dead person to keep pouncing on over and over again when you have more than an array of contestants. A coward’s act I believe. “A common writer” is what I have heard you being referred to lately, and I believe a mature mind would now agree to such referrals. With all due respect, there is a great challenge that faces the country, we have to put our heads together, rather than clashing, our collective ships must sail in the same direction, let us leave the ghosts of past contention and face the future bravely as one, criticizing the past does not help the present or define a path to the future."

"You are a learned man, you would have to undo all your learning to knowingly wish to undo all these achievements! I will be the first to proclaim that my father’s leadership was not pitch perfect or spot free, that does not exist, maybe in utopia but not here on this earth, so let us keep our discourse set in the sphere of reality please, he deserves the award, and he did not campaign for it, let it go, Sir…and allow Nigeria to at least bask in our survival and endurance in our growing prosperity and development in these trying times."

Not that I'm a fan of Wole Soyinka because of his deeds during the death of  fellow Nigerian Poet and writer, Chinua Achebe; but I do believe and concur that he's right. First, most people on the list should never have been inducted as recipient of the great Centenary Award. Sani Abacha is one of the most hated household names in Nigeria. Nobody wants to identify with that family. Why honor him? The country was  like an ice constantly melting in fear during his reign President Goodluck Jonathan: unless you were not leaving in Nigeria then.

What message is President Goodluck Jonathan sending to the citizens of Nigeria?

Screening all the names from 1-100, I believe President Goodluck Jonathan is sending a wrong message here with the inclusion of some not too famous household names. It's Nigeria at 100 years and we need to do better. I rather we have 50 names than a bunch of corruptible vessels shaded along our heroes and pioneers.

iNumber, South African Thriller wins at film festival

iNumber, South African Thriller wins at film festival

The South African movie thriller written and directed by Donovan Marsh, has won the highly coveted Audience Choice Award at the third annual Jozi Film Festival. The film opens in cinemas nationwide on 25 April 2014. The trailer looks good so far. I will be watching iNumber number.

"Now a regular on the annual film festival calendar, the Jozi Film Festival showcases the latest films made by South African and international filmmakers," says film director Marsh. "It highlights the best in filmmaking across a number of categories.

"To win the critically important Audience Choice Award is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud. We believe it's an indication of the quality of the film and the outstanding performances of the actors."

Helen Kuun,CEO of Indigenous Film Distribution, which is distributing 'iNumber Number' in South Africa, agrees. "Audience choice awards are particularly special and gratifying because they're voted on by cinema's biggest cheerleaders: the audience.

The win highlights the fact that 'iNumber Number' is a high-energy crowd pleaser." Watch the movie trailer of iNumber number here.

'iNumber Number' follows an honest undercover cop who, after being cheated out of a promotion, crosses over to become a part of a cash-in-transit heist gang.

The film, which stars S'dumo Mtshali and Presley Chweneyagae, had its world premiere at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival in September 2013. It was produced by Marsh, Quizzical Pictures' Harriet Gavshon, JP Potgieter and Mariki van der Walt, and executive produced by Nim Geva and Owen Kessel.
An action-packed movie, 'iNumber Number' is about a pair of cops battling corrupt colleagues as well as a gang of armoured-car thieves.Chili (S'dumo Mtshali, winner of 'Class Act' in 2010), and Shoes (Presley Chweneyagae of 'Tsotsi' and 'State of Violence' fame) have been partners in the police force for eight years.

After they make a risky arrest, their corrupt superior refuses to give them the reward they are due. Enraged, Chili realises that honesty does not pay and sets about infiltrating a gang of armoured car thieves. His scheme goes awry when the gang discover his true identity.

They take Shoes hostage and go through with the heist. Lured by the potential loot, but finding himself in the midst of a killing spree, Chili has to shake off his rage and cynicism to do the right thing. The film boasts an oddball cast that brings comic relief to the ruthless thuggery.

'iNumber Number' is South African director Donovan Marsh's fourth film. An award-winning director, writer and editor, Marsh has worked in the local film industry since 1992. He wrote and directed the feature films 'Dollars and White Pipes', 'Spud' and 'Spud 2: The Madness Continues'.
